Crossing paths 🐾
..an African Wildcat (Felis lybica) sneaks past the adolescent Cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus).

“We left on our drive early in the morning with the intention of going up the mountain for a lovely picnic breakfast. Little did we know that we would be, very happily, interrupted by elephants!

Halfway up the mountain pass we encountered a herd of elephants just below the road. We jumped out of the vehicle and enjoyed a lovely relaxed sighting of them feeding. We were ecstatic to see the little calf who was very playful and trying its best to scratch itself on its mom’s leg.

We left the herd and started ascending further up the mountain pass only to be met by a big elephant bull in the middle of the road who made it very clear that he did not want us to pass!

We reversed a couple of metres back to give him some space to hopefully allow us an opportunity to drive by. In the end we made the wise decision to reverse almost the entirety of Wolwekloof and leave the elephants to be on the mountain. We enjoyed a lovely picnic in the river instead.”

Managed to find the nest of the Paradise Flycatcher right next to the boardwalk of Madikwe Hills, and was able to photograph both the male and female on it. I think they are in the process of incubating eggs. Very rewarding moment at this beautiful Lodge.
