ComPass the Time

The first thing I noticed as I awoke that morning was the utter silence of this serene setting. I wandered up to the kitchen, put on some coffee, and sat back on the covered deck in one of those beautiful hand-made Adirondack chairs, with a hand-cro

cheted blanket over my shoulders, and watched the sun peek through the thick trees. All you could hear was the babbling of the creek below, and the rumble of the waves in the distance. The dog came out to join me, although she seemed not to want to get up from the comfy bed inside her own vacation-home crate! After finally coaxing everyone else to climb out of their memory-foam beds and enjoy the fresh-made waffle breakfast at the built-in nook , we took a short walk through Seabrook. Passing the new Town Hall, indoor pool, parks, and shops, all just a few steps away, it was amazing to realize how close to everything this house in Madison Lane was, yet it was still so private and quiet. After hours of riding the beach cruisers through town, playing in the surf, making sand castles, and letting the dog chase the ball, we returned "home" for lunch, just before a passing dose of liquid sunshine! We were even able to rinse off our feet (and paws) at the hot water bib next to the front porch. Even though we were inside for a while, there was still plenty to do. We played games and read books in front of the gas fireplace, and listened to our music on the Bose deck. There were even maps, books and photos of travel from around the world to peruse and enjoy. The kids had a ball – their room just looked like fun – even for adults! With their own HDTV, BlueRay, Wii system, books, games, toys, art supplies – they could have spent all day in there! As the clouds cleared and the now re-emergent sun dropped towards evening, we had a great barbequed dinner at the picnic table (everything was there – every utensil, appliance, or spice you could need!). Moving into the spacious living room, we cuddled into the soft, comfy couch and chairs, and watched a movie on the big HDTV. After getting the kids ready for bed (which was easy, with the two sinks and large bathroom!), it was our time. Just two steps out the master bedroom and we sunk into the beautiful hot tub! With the jets soaking away the worries, looking back up through those trees, enjoying a glass of wine in complete privacy, and then, finally, retiring to the king-sized bed just steps away. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day. I can think of no better way, or place, to ComPass the Time!

Thanks to all who have ‘liked’ or ‘followed’ this page over the years, and a special ‘thank you’ to all of you who have stayed here during that time. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we do. However, after 5 years in the rental program at Seabrook, we have (finally!) had the opportunity to return to Washington and will now be making ConPass the Time our full-time home. Therefore, it’s time to take down this page and enjoy the beach lifestyle. Happy Holidays!!

A beautiful week on the Washington Coast. I think I like the beach even better in the winter than summer - watching the big waves roll in, their rumble felt throughout Seabrook; enjoying a fire (and a beverage!); seeing the houses lit up in winter decorations. It’s truly a special place!

It's been way too long since we've posted from this page - apologies! Seabrook is bustling! New businesses open - a pizza restaurant, candy/ice cream shop, health club - and Main Street development underway. All within a short walk from ComPass the Time. Yet, here it remains a quiet oasis. And, of course, the beauty of the area is unparalleled. Whether the wide, sandy beach at Seabrook, enjoying the quiet of the forest out the back door, or visiting the nearby rugged beauty of the Olympic coast at Ruby Beach or Klaloch - this place is a wonderful escape. We treasure each trip.

It's been way too long since we've update this page - sorry! A wonderful week at Seabrook Washington last week! Great weather - even the Saturday storm was fun. Lots of activities, from the Friday concert to the homeowners celebration. Even the announced release of the new Farm District! The commercial area is really taking off - with the new bakery/coffee shop, enlarged gift store - and the new restaurant and sweet shop coming soon.

We've really missed the place and enjoyed giving our house a nice spruce-up: restocked supplies, painted some walls, added plants - even put up some autumn decorations. It will be Fall before we know it - and the beach is a great place to spend it. Even when Seabrook is full, ComPass the Time is still quiet, but close to everything. And what a better way to end a beautiful day than sitting in the hot tub (with that great glass of wine!) in perfect privacy, looking into the trees, listening to the ocean, all while enjoying a sky full of stars. Our favorite place!

Spending the holidays in Seabrook Washington was magical! From the great activities - Christmas concert by the Gunderson's, a performance of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by the local kids, to the ugly sweater contest (while watching the 'Hawks pound the Cardinals!) - it was truly memorable. And that is nothing to say of the always beautiful scenery. With the New Year here it's a great time to go to the beach! Whether sunny and crisp with great views, or watching the storms and waves roll in - thetis always something to see and do. Of course, ComPass the Time is a great place to stay and enjoy it! Wishing you all a wonderful 2015!

A bit of a jump start on decorating for the holidays (took these a bit before Thanksgiving) but a beautiful, chilly weekend - bright sun, crisp air, quiet. A perfect time to get away to the beach. Can't wait to get back now that the holiday season is in full swing. Tree lightings, holiday concerts, Santa, caroling, let alone the beach - whether sunny or stormy, it's always beautiful!

A spectacular 4th of July weekend at Seabrook Washington! The house decorating contest, games, live music, food, drink, bicycle parade, and, of course, fireworks! Beautiful weather and a clear view for 20 miles up and down the beach. It's great having the new businesses - from the wine shop and new pizza truck, to the spa and return of the espresso stand (this is WA, after all!) And even though it's busy, it's still peaceful! Sitting in the hot tub at night, looking at the stars, listening to the waves and creek - doesn't get much better!

It seems that there is more to do at Seabrook Washington every day - but the beauty is a constant! Arriving to a beautiful 80+ degree sunny evening made for a spectacular sunset. But this is WA in May, so while the weather may have gotten a bit more liquid, it made the grand opening of The Stowaway - the new wine and cheese bar in town - a great way to spend an evening. Follow that with the :opening celebration" of the new Madison Lane pavilion, and there is even more to do - in good weather or bad!
