On April 27, 1521, the Battle of Mactan unfolded on Mactan Island in the Philippines, marking a pivotal moment in the struggle against colonial domination. Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, leading an expedition to circumnavigate the globe, sought to impose Spanish control and aid Rajah Humabon of Cebu in defeating his rival, Lapu-Lapu.

Magellan, armed with advanced weaponry and armor, underestimated the fierce resistance of Lapu-Lapu, who commanded his warriors with remarkable skill and determination. The battle saw Magellan's troops, despite their technological edge, struggling against the native forces' superior knowledge of the terrain and relentless attacks.

In a dramatic turn, Magellan himself was struck down by a spear, leading to a decisive defeat for the Spanish forces. This loss was a significant blow to Magellan’s mission and underscored the effective resistance of the indigenous fighters.

Magellan's Cross is a historical monument located in Cebu City, Philippines, planted by the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in 1521. It symbolizes the arrival of Christianity and European influence in the Philippines. The original wooden cross was encased in an ornate structure in 1834 for protection, and what stands today is a replica with the original preserved inside.

Magellan's Cross is housed in the "Kiosk," a chapel built in 1834 to protect the original cross. This site, which attracts many visitors, signifies the introduction of Christianity to the Philippines. The Kiosk features a mural that illustrates Magellan's arrival and the conversion of the locals, highlighting its cultural and religious significance.

TOUR Organizers | DIY CHEAP BUDOL TOURS - I joined one of the tours of this kind one time just to know what's really happening inside. of course, we already know from complaints of other guest, friend who turned to us for help as they we're fall victim of such.
I came across one Organizer who said that he was a tour operator | travel agency, asked how many years he is already. turned out he just opened the agency weeks ago, yet he calls himself a Tour Operator | Travel Agency | Tour Organiser. I was really confused. Hey! no issue about it. everybody has the right to live and earn, we are on democratic country. Christianity was first introduced by Magellan when he arrives in the Islands of Philippines on April 14, 1521, the first Christian Relic & the first Sto. Nino (Holy Infant Jesus) It was given as a token and welcome gift to then Rajan Humabon and his wife Hara Humamay, following their baptism to being one of the first Island tribe to Catholicism.

Four decades passed with the arrival of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. the relic was once again found in the hands of the Spaniards having survived the battle that took the life of Magellan & his soldiers in the Islands of Cebu - Mactang. Miraculously surpassed all the ever-changing natural disasters occurred in the Islands of Cebu following the faithful events.

Considered as the oldest Sto Nino relic or anything of its kind here in the Philippines, 2 more followed after that was brought In Tondo, Manila in 1572 & Arevalo, Iloilo which is the replica of the Sto Nino Cebu brought by the Spanish Governor General in 1581.

The Man and the Fort

Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, the first governor general of Las Islas de San Lazaro, Las Islas Felipinas, Philippines

Funded and led the expedition to conquer and colonize the Philippine archipelago. In the 16th century, it was the most strategic location for the spice route. Likewise, to spread Christianity, the successful expedition that came back to Spain started the 333 rule of Spain, which ended in 1898.

Miguel died of a stroke and was buried in San Augustine Church in Manila.

In defense from the Moro raiders, pirates. A fort was constructed under Miguel Lopez de Legaspi. Holding the main areas, 2 facing the seas and one facing the land safeguarded by canons on each side, totaling 14 surrounding the fort, the smallest fortress in the archipelago.

Bird’s nest soup is a popular soup in El Nido and a delicacy in Chinese cuisine. This edible nest was created by Swiftlet cave-dwelling birds. Using their very own natural glue—saliva provides a gelatinous texture. In El Nido, it was usually cooked with chicken broth together with ham, corn, and eggs. These nests are found in caves, coastal cliffs, and mountains in El Nido, hence the name "Nido Soup".

This soup is sure not ordinary, and so its price is quite expensive because it's hard to harvest them as they are usually found in high places. This amazing soup can offer a lot more, as the nest is nutritious with potassium, iron, calcium, and magnesium. This soup has a blend of culture and nature's taste. Not to mention the cost of the Edible bird’s nest reaching as much as us $2000 to $3500 US. WOW!
