Graduating from 5 years of university in December and moving on to new adventures, I'm cleaning house and finally putting myself out there as an artist. Some of my favourite mediums include;
Watercolour
Ink and paper
Acrylic
Fabric/Pattern design
Interior design
And more recently, glass. I work out of a studio here in wonderful Victoria, BC, where I'm in my last year of a Geography and Environm
ental Studies degree, as well as a diploma in Restoration of Natural Systems. I had always been interested in glass art and got the opportunity to take a 5 day course about two years ago, and have been hooked ever since. Since then I have been completely self-taught. I had been making glass beads and jewellery as gifts for friends and family for some time, before realizing that the summer was quickly approaching and a means of income would be necessary. Thus, Beachcomber Glasswork was born. Inspired by my affinity for the ocean and the driftwood I use to display my jewellery at local markets, the name is a bit of a mouthful, but I like it. The money earned from this endeavour is destined for the mountain of student loans I've accumulated over the last 5 years of being a full-time student, as well as funding my move back home to the Caribbean, where I'll enjoy some much-needed time off and re-connecting with old friends and family. Thanks to everyone who has, and will, support me in this adventure, and happy shopping! Much love,
Lexi Fisher
