Developing Thim Lich Ohinga is a positive move that will benefit the people of Migori. It is in this understanding that the County Government of Migori, in collaboration with the National Government is committed to ensuring Thim Lich Ohinga is developed to the standard that will attract more tourists.
Therefore, today Governor Obado met a team from the National Museums of Kenya to discuss a variety of issues that will enable the County secure buffer zones, put electrity and water among other structures to improve the condition of the Ohinga.
It should be noted that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has classified Thimlich Ohinga as world heritage site.
In his Annual State of the County Address recently, Obado reiterated his commitment towards promoting cultural activities and tourism in the county by improving the status of the cultural sites.
Already, the county government of Migori is working ways of promoting famous attraction sites such as the Crying Stone of Kuria East, Mugabo Caves of Nyatike, God Kweru Religious Shrine of Suna West, the scenic beauty of the islands in Lake Victoria in Nyatike and the Gogo Falls in Uriri, among others.
