Old Sod Travel We specialize in creating highly customized trips to England, Ireland and Scotland. Old Sod Travel was a hobby that has become a business. And we do.

Our passion for traveling to Ireland and love of helping others create the "perfect vacation" got us started. As we continued to help people plan and book their dream trip to the Old Sod, the responsibility implied by handling people's money and planning their vacation made it obvious that we needed to run this like a business. We don't create packages and try to sell them to our clients (most of

whom are or become friends). We create customers and help them to find the places, the activities, the sights, the pubs, the experiences, the restaurants and the accommodation that will make the PERFECT TRIP! For us, anything less would be a disappointment.

Our last few days of our North East England adventure brought us to Lindisfarne aka Holy Island a very special place of worship, tranquility and pilgrimage. Breathtaking. Then it was off to Bamburgh Castle on the stunning coast of Northumberland where a number of films like Downton Abbey, BFG, Indiana Jones and The Last Kingdom have been produced here. Lunch stop and visit to the newly opened Museum and distillery, which has a lovely display of local artifacts and unique heritage of the area. Last overnight at the very welcoming and beautiful property of Sally Hall Hotel & Spa in Hexham.

Another few busy days visiting North East England. We ventured up to Newcastle and got a tour of the WWII tunnels in Newcastle and a walking tour of the city. Next it was off to Vindolanda an ancient archaeological site Where during the summer you can watch live excavations- how cool is that. We ended the day visiting Alnwick Castle famous for Harry Potter and his broomsticks - a really stunning property with something for everyone from castle, cafe, gardens and playground. The adventure continues……

It was off to North East England today. Our train unfortunately was cancelled up north due to the storm and therefore we got a coach to Durham instead a five hour drive on the motorway. First stop was , a unique collection of heritage attractions, gardens and galleries. The beautiful Bishops Palace was explored in the sunshine. Then it was off to the university town of Durham and its beautiful cathedral and castle.

Second day was more exploring of North East England today. First stop was , an open air museum telling the story of Northeast England in the 1900s onwards. The 350 acre estate is a really fun place for all the family to get up close and personal with how people lived, shopped and ate during those times.
