Check-in Asia's Gary Bowerman was interviewed by Al Jazeera this week, to discuss Asia Pacific's slow recovery, which "underscores the outsize importance of China and Japan to travel and tourism."

“South East Asia and Australia rely heavily on air traffic from China and Northeast Asia," Gary commented. "Until China reopens, the recovery in Southeast Asia, for example, has a much lower ceiling. The region’s air travel ecosystem badly needs China because it combines a mix of Chinese carriers, national carriers and low-cost carriers.”

This week, Check-in Asia's Gary Bowerman took part in a panel discussing the future outlook for Chinese tourism to Indonesia, with Prof. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, CEO of the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (COTRI), and Pauline Suharno, President of ASTINDO.

The session formed part of the Global Tourism Forum: Leaders Summit Asia - Indonesia event on 15-16 September - and was streamed to 25,000 viewers worldwide.
