We enjoyed trekkinig around Oku-Nikko area for two days. Oku-Nikko is highland area, so the temarature there is around 20 to 25 deg c. We were able to spend a pleasant time like early autumn.

We are now in "Tsuyu", rainy season. In these days, weather is drizzling or cloudy, however, yesterday was nicely sunny day. We enjoyed biking and viewing water lily and hydrangea. Lucky, we could get view of Mt. Fuji. It is very rare to view it in rainy season. It was 46 kilometer long tour.

At Ashikawa Village near the Lake Kawaguchi, one of five lakes at the foot of Mt. Fuji, "Suzuran", lily of the valley is in season. We enjoyed viewing Mt. Fuji at Oishi Park of Lake Kawaguchi,

This is the first colored leaf viewing in this season. Chichibu Muse Park is famous for its long maple tree road. We rented mountain bikes, just 500 yen per two hours per bike.

On June 28, we went around part of Tone River, which is known as the river with largest basin area. The riding distance is short like 37 km, but we crossed prefecture borders of Saitama, Ibaraki, and Chiba. Because the route was along with water front, we felt some cool wind even when it was a hot day.

It was healing time to walk around Lake Chuzenji. It was so nice to hear sounds of water and creatures in its nature and to enjoy viewing Japanese primrose（クリンソウ）.

The destination on June 11 was Senjugahama beach of Lake Chuzenji in Nikko, where colony of Japanese primrose is in season. This time, we walked 3.8 km long trail along the coast of the lake to the destination and took a boat for return to the starting point of Shoubugahama beach. This one-day outdoor tour refreshed us so much because we had been patient at home for many days.

Ms. Shichiku, owner of Shichiku Garden in Tokachi, Hokkaido, passed away on May 4th, 2021. We visited her garden 4 years ago and we could meet her in her garden coincidentally. At that time, she already might be aware of that time to say goodbye could be coming soon. This is why she expanded her garden every day to leave her will like "I leave this world sometime in near future, but my flowers can tell you my words whenever you come to my garden. In late April, 2009, I made a trip around Lake Tazawa area. A colony of dogtooth violet in Yatsu Town was in season. Starch for cooking was used to be made from root of this flower, called "Katakuri". However, growing this flower is extremely difficult, so that starch now is made from potato since 1908 when Baron Kawada （男爵）inroduced to Japan poteto from England.

Today's bike tour was a bit tough, but, I made 77 km long tour between Saitama City and Kumagaya City. The roads of Aarakawa River banks are all paved, so that it was pleasant ride.

There are more than 100 species of Sakura blossoms in Japan. Now it is season of late blossoming Sakura like Yaezakura that comes after Someiyoshino, which has gone a week ago. We went to Kawagoe Suijo Park to view Yaezakura in fully blossom. It is nice that colorful flower and young light green leaf season starts.
