We visited Oku-Nikko today on Oct. 24 for bike riding. It was so fun through forest of Oku-Nikko.
This is the first colored leaf viewing in this season. Chichibu Muse Park is famous for its long maple tree road. We rented mountain bikes, just 500 yen per two hours per bike.
The second day for Shimanami Kaido was bike and boat tour betwen Hakata Island and Onomichi City. Total distance by bike was 61 km.

On June 28, we went around part of Tone River, which is known as the river with largest basin area. The riding distance is short like 37 km, but we crossed prefecture borders of Saitama, Ibaraki, and Chiba. Because the route was along with water front, we felt some cool wind even when it was a hot day.
It was healing time to walk around Lake Chuzenji. It was so nice to hear sounds of water and creatures in its nature and to enjoy viewing Japanese primrose(クリンソウ).

"Nanohana" Bike tour
Arakawa cycling road is now full of "Nanohana", spring seasonal flower.
Minuma Rock Gate Demo
On Aug 21, I went to see Minuma rock gate demonstration. The rock gate was recently rebuilt, but original one was built about 300 years ago for lifting up and down small boats, going through a river and water ways with different water level like 3 meters.
Bike Tour along Tsukuba Rin-Rin Road
In 1987, Ttukuba railway shut down its 74 years long operation and the railway is now used for bike road named Tsukuba Rin-Rin road. The view of Mt. Tsukuba in the blue sky made our bike tour impressive.

Thunder Waterfall makes great resounding between the narrow gorge of Matsukawa River. Visitors can walk through the path backside of the fall without being wet.
Toyama Yastuo Kazenobon
On September 3, I happened to stay in Toyama and could have a chance to visit "Yatsuo" town to see its "Kazenobon", a traditional local folk dance festival. The day was the last day for the three festival days. On the final night, people could dance overnight. My stay there was just short, but, the nostalgic melody evoked my native feeling as Japanese.
