We have a varied programme of internationally renowned scientists lecturing this year, including; Professor Fiona Watt speaking about stem cell research, Professor Mercedes Maroto-Valer speaking about sustainable energy engineering, Professor Mark McCaughrean speaking about Rosetta and Philae (European Space Agency), Dr Michael Londesborough speaking about the new Borane laser material, Professor Lord Robert Winston speaking about in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and Professor Sir Roy Anderson speaking about infectious diseases. This summer during LIYSF, students will be exploring scientific research first-hand in leading university laboratories including; University of Cambridge, Cranfield University, Imperial College London, UCL, University of Oxford and Warwick University. Students will also visit leading research institutes and organisations including Airbus, Culham Centre for Fusion Research, National Physical Laboratory, National Oceanography Centre and The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute.
