"Two thousand and eighteen remains a mixed vintage that reflects the challenges of a growing season marked by heavy spring rains, intense summer heat and unbalanced weather during the final phase of ripening. There are some gorgeous 2018s out there, but finding them will take a bit of work. The best 2018s are beautifully perfumed, mid-weight Barolos that will drink well early." Alessandro Masnaghetti is such an important figure to the wine world! He is a wine writer an cartographer who studied, researched and worked endless hours to provide wine lovers with detailed information and vineyard maps both on paper and on the internet!
I own all his books on Barolo and Barbaresco and am one of his biggest fans when it comes to the MGA maps. 🗺You can find them in the US if you want to step up your wine nerd game!
He also just came out with a new Chianti book too if you are interested and we’ll have to see what he comes up with next!
I feel so lucky to know him in person and have had a few fantastic interactions with him in the Barolo area. He is like a living Barolo and Barbaresco encyclopedia📕Thanks for all you do!
🙏🏻
Alessandro Masnaghetti has done it again! If you want to learn more about Chianti you can find his book in the US here!
One of America’s most respected wine merchants; specialists in impeccably cellared examples of the world’s greatest wines, with prices that are often the lowest you’ll find.
If you are interested in Puglia next year- move quickly!!
🇮🇹Piemonte is mostly all about letting the single varietals shine with wines made with 100% of the single grape. This is a great way to learn about their individual characteristics but who says you can’t blend here?
makes a blend of local grapes called Luvi named after his wife that allows for Nebbiolo to give structure, Barbera color and body, Dolcetto 🍇fruit so they all work as a team!
In the past it was pretty common to blend Nebbiolo with Barbera so it is actually nothing new and almost everyone who tastes it loves it.♥️
🍷Are you more of a blend lover or pure varietal fan?
Happy Tuesday from Piemonte Paradise!🏖🏖🏖🏖
Drinking wine and meeting winemakers makes everyone happy! Here I am pictured with the friendly Renato Corino producer in the Barolo region who is known for his friendly and welcoming personality, great wines and big farmer hands👋🏽

This week we went to at the really cool spot to taste the new vintages from many producers in the langhe all in one place. The idea was to find new wineries for our that we didn’t know but all roads led back to…
PRODUTTORI DEL BARBARESCO
poured us the classic 2018 Barbaresco and I am just saying, don’t underestimate this wine! Especially vintages like this 2018 which have all the grapes from the single crus because there will be no riservas made for that vintage. I don’t have any tasting notes since my mouth was pretty numb from so much Nebbiolo but it definitely stood out that day! 😋
If you can find some, don’t hesitate to grab one!

🌸Before and after 36 hours of literally BACK BREAKiNG work, trying to get out our fantastic wine club shipments out before Easter!🌸
Twice a year Claudio and I dedicate 2-3 days of unboxing, sticking gov warning labels on every bottle, organizing members’ orders, packing, double checking, writing names, compiling tech sheets, smashing boxes and then praying for no shipping issues! After all this, we enjoyed a non-Piemontese Pinot Bianco To go with our meal!😅
⚠️ The boxes won’t actually start being shipped out in batches until next week so you still have time to sign up last minute! DM if you are interested!
🇮🇹Have you ever been wine tasting in Trentino - Alto Adige? I am finishing up this chapter and my mind is blown with so many grape varieties and valleys! I also couldn’t believe this was 14% alcohol😲
I really need to get up there and check it all out in person🤗 Italy has so much to offer!
Yes… there is Barbaresco in there! So pure and so sinewy but don’t let its light color fool you!
Happy women’s day!
This was an epic getaway with some lovely ladies way too long ago- - We really need to do it again and I have a great guide now in Burgundy!

🇮🇹 I was so honored to be interviewed for ‘s fantastic presentation on Barolo & Barbaresco last weekend!
🍷Kevin Day is a wine educator and writer with a soft spot for Piemontese wines (how can you blame him!). This year he launched his own website where he produces in depth wine content with beautiful graphics, photos and insight. If you are a wine geek and would love to learn more about great wines and regions in the world, I highly recommend checking out his programs!
Follow him for more info and reviews:)
My friend over at The Travelphile ran into this as she walked into a lobby of a motel in California. Electronic check in all done by a screen while two staff members were in the back office and could also communicate through this very screen.
I am not going to lie, I find this to be awful as human ties keep getting more and more distant. Nothing can beat the interaction and smile you get when entering a hotel in a new destination.
What do you guys think?

Wait until you see the slowest moving torrone nougat in the last vat! Today we had so much fun visiting a historical and family run “torroneria” in Asti. Do you like nougat or not? I like the hard crunchy classic one but you have to have strong teeth!🦷
How beautiful is Alba in Piemonte? Today I checked out a new info point for @lovelanghe & @torinooutletvillage in the center of town and I can’t wait to go to Torino to take advantage of some of the sales! 🛍Do you like shopping at outlets?🛍 #torinooutletvillage #outletvillage #outlets #langhe #alba #italianpiazza @guide.collective
🏰If you want a luxurious castle to enjoy your stay in, @castellodiguarene is a gorgeous spot in the Roero. 🍇It is a great base to explore Langhe - Roero - Monferrato and only 10 minutes up the hill from Alba, home to the white truffle fair. 🏊♂️There is a fine dining restaurant and pool (only indoors though) where you can relax! 🤴The castle was built in the 18th century by Count Carlo Giacinto, an illuminated and dynamic Piemontese aristocrat. Now you can pretend to be a Count and Countess for a day! Chef Denise Pardini from Albergo Castello di Sinio shows us the beautiful radicchio and blood oranges at the Dogliani market... so delicious! Hear what she wants to make! I will be doing some more edited videos in March to show you what this incredible woman can do.
We are shipping wines all over the world every week for our own @barolowineclub but so nice to finally receive a wine delivery for myself! Stella’s birth year is the newly released 2016 barolo so trying to get my hands on some hard to find labels! Big thanks to @lucatirelli1970 @vogliadivinoenoteca for making this happen! It will now be resting nicely in my cellar for years to come!
This weekend we chose to take a break from wine and go West towards the mountains to Manta, my old stomping ground! Have a look and see what you think! I am dedicating this video to Robin Sober who wanted to see town festivals in the area:) video number 3 ... still trying to fine tune but hope you enjoy a peek into my every day life in Italy!

Here is my first trial of doing a little video clip of my days out in low season doing my "market research". Still haven't quite figured it all out yet but hopefully they will keep getting better and better! Today brought me to ROERO...Watch the video to see a 14th century cellar, pear cider, restaurant lunch for 13 euros, barrel fermented Arneis white wine that the winemaker calls "HIPPY" wine, and more!
This was a real Piemontese experience... going to fill up demijohns with my father in law where they sell wine in liters ex:75 euros for 54 liters! Loaded up the car and then he will bottle inside his own garage.. I was the only girl and only dialect was spoken .. but loved it bc this is the old school italy that is disappearing!
This is what it looked like in Serralunga yesterday! Can I go back to sunny California just for a few more weeks?!
