Located alongside Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C., the Dolley Madison House, also known as the Cutts-Madison House, was a symbol of prestige in the 19th century 🏠 🇺🇸
After the passing of her husband, former President James Madison, Dolley Madison took up residence in the house to ease her financial troubles.
After her death in 1849, her son inherited the property and later sold it to Charles Wilkes.
Many people have reported seeing Dolley's ghost still lingering there. They describe seeing a woman dressed in colonial attire, seated in a rocking chair watching over the property.
