Marvel at an 18th-Century Cathedral

The most obvious antidote to the decidedly Soviet aesthetic of Belgorod's city center? That would be Smolensky Cathedral, a beautiful but humble Russian Orthodox church that dates back to the 18th century. Clad in a turquoise-colored paint that looks great during any season and under every light, this is definitely among the top things to do in Belgorod. The cathedral is still open to parishioners daily, allowing visitors to marvel at the interior as well.

Harmony of ice and fire in Kamchatka, Russia

The diversity of Kamchatka landscape is breathtaking. Smoky vents of active volcanoes, glaciers in extinct craters, fast mountain rivers forming impressive waterfalls, mountain pines and stone-birch forests, alpine meadows full of bright flowers, fields with hot healing springs, geysers running high out of the ground and steam vents — all this sits comfortably alongside, fancifully combining and creating a beautiful picture. The fruitful power of nature created harmony out of contrasts here.

Kamchatka is a bear paradise

Kamchatka Bear is a real host here. Meeting with a taliped here is an ordinary event. However, it is better to admire the animal from a distance, so when a bear approaches, you need to create more noise. You can observe the habits of these large animals from a safe distance during spawning when the great bearish salmon hunt begins.

After 200 years of serving as a grand summer residence of the emperors, Peterhof is inextricably connected with the Russian history. The seaside paradise was built, as a grandiose triumphal memorial glorifying the grandeur of Russia, in conquering the much needed and desired access to the Baltic Sea, during the Great Northern War.

Peterhof is legitimately considered to be the creature of Peter the Great - more than ten of his handmade drawings in reference to Peterhof, and even more sketches with his rectifications and notes, were preserved. Even after the emperor’s death, during the next century and a half, the architects were not only maintaining but also, continuing to implement the chief plan of the Tsar-Reformer.

Until 1946, Kaliningrad was called Königsberg and was part of East Prussia. After World War II the city was transferred to the Soviet Union and renamed Kaliningrad, and it remained a part of Russia even after the collapse of the USSR.

Today, Kaliningrad tourism centers around its Gothic buildings, cozy cafes, unique museums and proximity to the Baltic Sea. We invite you to learn about this amazing city, which attracts tens of thousands of tourists annually, and to come and visit for yourself!
