Second Dwell offers two different dwelling models:
"The Living Room"
The most comfortable, close, convenient, cost-efficient, and completely cool way to care for family, guests, or clients. Finally, there's a new option that allows you to care for family members who can no longer reside in their larger home. Perhaps you have other insiders who need a space of their own. Set this dwelling up in
your own back yard or on a lot of its own. The "Living Room" provides a very attractive feel outside and a comfortable living environment on the inside. It can include a functional kitchenette, full bath (that is wheelchair-accessible), and an open living/bedroom area (expand it into a separate bedroom dwelling if you wish). This space-maximizing design comes with these features in the standard model:
• Completed exterior as shown
• Standard HVAC wall unit
• Built in wiring conduits
• Interior framing
• Standard plumbing configuration
• Attached front porch
Our team can finish out the interior design so it matches your taste, or it can be left bare for you to design on your own. The "Living Room" is constructed of pre-made insulated panels shipped to your location and constructed by our experienced building team. These structured insulated panels ("SIPs") are used to construct the floors (10 inches thick), the walls (generally 6 inches thick) and roof (12 inches thick) ensuring a very strong, weather-repelling, quiet and draft free environment. It's NOT a shed; it's a quality home.
“THE LIVING LODGE”
The most comfortable, compact, convenient, cost-efficient, completely cool way to obtain cabin space. How many times have wished you had a place in your favorite get-away spot. How many times have you wanted more space in that spot. Here is a cabin that stands up the elements and sleeps a family or group of friends in complete comfort. This “home away from home” can be configured to sleep up to six with plenty of room to move around. Each cabin could have a compact kitchenette, bathroom with shower, water heater, propane appliances, power generator, or even a stacked washer/dryer. A sleeping loft looks down on the main floor and provides room for two bunk beds or one bedroom and additional storage space. Made of pre-constructed insulated panels the “Living Lodge” is built on your special location. This structure is highly weather repelling using Structured Insulated Panels (SIPs) that provide high 20s R-factors for insulation quality. Your energy use is cut way down and your comfort from the weather conditions outside is assured in both summer or winter. The standard model is sold at one price and you choose the options you desire on the interior. We’ll finish it as you request or for the handy person, you finish it yourself. It’s a great way to get away.
