Amazing!!

On Monday, August 19, 2024, the full moon, which is also a Super Blue Moon, began to rise over Grand Canyon Village around 7:35 pm. This event combined the rarity of a Super Moon with a Blue Moon, and was a spectacular sight for observers at Grand Canyon.

A supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth in its elliptical orbit, known as perigee. This results in the moon appearing larger and brighter in the sky.

This Blue Moon is a seasonal Blue Moon - the third full moon in a season that has four full moons.
