This week enjoying some better weather & a walk into the village is a nice break from today's DIY where I came across these colourful daffs . I am busy preparing the houses for the coming season ( busy busy busy ) & got some more upgrades to no 12 that I can't wait to share with you all .So excited ..... Watch this space!

Hi everyone 👋🏼 Spent the day here in these magnificent ancient woodlands - just over an hour's drive away in Perthshire . If you fancy a visit then Maytime is perfect for bluebells or go see the oaks & beeches in autumn - even as late as mid Nov they look stunning . Spending the day here & hearing the roar of the wind & the rattle of the distant trains was powerful ! Worth a visit if you love our native Woodlands 💚

Hello everyone, We have some very exciting news to announce today!!! As you know outdoor space is so important to wellbeing and we know everyone loves a nice garden to relax day and evening especially on your holidays so...... over the last year we have been planning and undertaking a makeover of both back gardens 12 & 14 On the Hill which turned out to be a mammoth task.

And here are the results !

No 14 has a brand new composite decking seating area that takes full advantage of the south facing sunniest spot in the garden

No 12 has a patio area and a new decking area as well as gravel & grass zones & of course that all important BBQ.

Both gardens have new planters along the back wall , in which we have planted clematis, climbing roses & other gorgeous flowering plants. And we have more plans & more work to do to make this as truly relaxing & beautiful space as possible .....so bear with us please 🌸☘️🪴🐝💦
Big thanks to the following folk -

Firstly my nephew Nathan who single-handedly carried 40+ kg paving stones down steep steps & spent a week helping move gravel & aggregate last Sept - we couldn't have done any of no 12 without you!

My brother Dave who put down our 1st decking in 12 & got a black eye in the process (when a plank hit him in the face -he made a full recovery), and help me dig out 14's huge rockery & more !

Family help with shifting 3 tons of gravel & aggregate down steps via a builders chute - Nathan & I, plus help from Graham & Josh & thanks also to Nataly & mum for behind the scenes support & filming!

Ben A’An - Our closest wee-est mountain in miniature - looks like a volcanic cone indeed in Gaelic it means “small pointed peak “ A real favourite with guests - kids families friends instagrammers ! So I was up visiting with family & friends - and climbed it twice in one week ( My Dutch friends & I are aiming to climb the big one - Ben Lomond later this week ( with the aid of our much loved walking poles - recommend this technique to save the knees ) Simply stunning views across Loch Katrine to the Arrochar Alps - 50 mins to the top - steep but well worth it . Have you been ? How many times …?

So excited to be FINALLY sharing the newly refurbished family bathroom at 12 On the Hill, its going down great with the new guests, what do you think ?
Its been 30 years since it was upgraded as you can see!
We added underfloor heating & a spacious walk in shower which is just sublime 💦 The demister LED round mirror replaces the internal frosted window & commissioned the very talented www.matinhol.co.uk to make a bespoke oak dresser to keep with our woodlands theme & try to create a bit of magic
I got a few strange looks when I said I was putting Wallpaper above the bath- was inspired to be bold & create a feature wall - design is Botanica by Harlequin.

A few photos from last night's firework display in the village, didn't have a tripod but hopefully catches some of the atmosphere, and esp love this year's riverside location- imagine it was tricky to set up in the challenging conditions, but luckily the rain stayed light - thanks to the organisers & Aberfoyle community for a fab event.

Just delighted with the new dresser we commissioned Matt to make for the new bathroom refurb planned for no 12 on the hill - coming soon ! . I hope you agree it’s stunning - made from oak & with the playful branches holding up the shelves - we can’t wait to see it in place along with the sink , black taps & emerald green metro tiles we’ve planned - we think the guests are going to love it & I hope you agree . Massive thanks to very talented the quality & attention to detail is superb & best seen in person- be sharing more soon on some exciting new bathroom design & plans for no 12 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The Hill Climb event is undoubtedly a huge highlight of the weekend. If you haven't experienced it racing or spectating it's got to be done!

This year it is off-road now too, it's the biggest party and most definitely the biggest hill climb in Scotland. 300+ riders, a bar, coffee, music, school kids and whole lot of people it is going to be amazing!

Well no, - very exciting that Dukes Weekender cycle festival is happening on 11&12 Sept (festival web link in comments)- the amazing hillclimb up Dukes Pass - just up the hill- so you can cheer on the vast array of cyclists from all walks of life, and enjoy the party atmosphere, and plenty of family friendly activities too including a kids enduro & pumptrack in the village. We are really delighted with our new videos, which really bring the interiors to life! Guests have been telling us that the houses are much bigger inside than they look from the outside & so we found a fantastic videographer, who has made us a tour of each property. I hope you agree they really bring the place to life & you can almost feel like you are there. Love to hear any feedback. We love this guestbook entry from some of our younger guests aged 9 & 10 who were staying in no 12 because their great gran-mas house was next door at one time! Kids we love the drawings & tales, if only the walls could talk what stories they would tell. A lucky double rainbow appeared and arc'd over the houses between showers!

The bookings are going really so thought I’d take a short break in London - where I headed to Coals drop Yard by kings cross to see exhibition . Was exciting to see my image on display along with so many other amazing award winners travel photos some just incredible . I also love this area - a great example of urban canalside regeneration in the heart of London . On until 10 June then touring , sadly not to Scotland as of yet ! Discovered the best flat white in Scotland thank you the menu looks great, currently takeaway only until restrictions ease .
