The apARTment project connects visitors with professional artists who offer short term accommodation. In some cases this accomodation is an installation, sometimes it is the home of the artist. At times some function as an Artist in Residency as well. It is, however, always a comfortable place to stay and an interesting environment to spend time in. It is a mission and we have three goals:
• to
create and enable another, more intimate way to meet, present and interact with art and hereby establish a direct connection between the artist, the beholder and the art.
• to promote & support (economical) independence within the artist community.
• to enable optimal use of previously overlooked resources with sustainabitily as an additional benefit. The apARTment project is an artist initiative; by artists, with artists for artists. Together with and for all who like and like to support the arts. Our goal is to make more room for art & artists by creating a new arena. Hereby we hope to broaden the reach & scope of art as well as increase its interaction with the public and thereby their appreciation for and understanding of contemporary art. As well as to provide a wiser and more interesting alternative to the current obsession with consumption of material goods mistaken for the goal of life. The apARTment project aims to be much more than commercial: indeed we support the capitalist credo ’maximization of profit’; it´s just that we find it should apply not only to monetary gain, but to all levels and to all involved. Thus is no one making profit on someones expense, instead everybody benefits from what the other has to offer. Also our environment. What we offer is a private setting where the artist is in full control, without any intermediary. Hereby self in the position to make all decisions; like what should be there, how it s shown, how long it should stay as well as what to charge. It is an experiment with which we want to make the experience of the private collector accessible to more, to let the art bring income without being sold; to act as a quality, not as a commodity. With it we like to bring more intimacy and privacy to the relationship between the art and its audience; because sometimes things are better seen trough the corner of the eye, because some relationships take time to mature, because some things deserve the opportunity to grow on you…and because ownership is not the only answer. The apARTment project provides an opportunity for your choice to make a difference.
