Want to come and see Barton Court but don't have the time or appetite for the full high tea? Now you can.

In response to lots of requests for a smaller meal, we are going to offer a lighter alternative. Instead of the extensive original menu, you can opt instead for afternoon tea [or coffee] with a savoury and a cake for £12.50. You still get a tour of the house, hear some of its exciting history and the plans for its continued refurbishment.

Come and enjoy these beauties at Barton Court next week. Not in the grounds - which are, at the moment, mostly laid to lawn - but in the garden of cakes that are being created for our afternoon tea on 3rd August.

Keely Mann is bringing the outside in and, to make up for the lack of flowers in the grounds, crafting our very own dessert table summer garden out of delicious confections like these. There will be macaroons, iced biscuits, cupcakes and, of course, scones with jam.

But are these too beautiful to eat? Hard to believe that they are cakes, isn't it?

Don't worry f you don't have a sweet tooth, there are plenty of delicious savouries for you to enjoy: asparagus frittata; smoked salmon and avocado mousse; cucumber sandwiches and much more.
