Cycling from Bluff to Cape Reinga fund-raising for the NZ Gynaecological Cancer Foundation Support our charity here - https://www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/2100kmsin21days/ November 1st 2012 – that is the date when 2 Ozzies (Annie and Don), 1 Kiwi (Margie) and 1 “Kiwoz” (me – Brenda) will set off from Bluff to cycle the length of New Zealand – yes, from the southernmost end of State Highway 1 right to
the very top – Cape Reinga! We are all in the second half century of our lives (some further in than others!) but we keep healthy, active and young at heart through getting out and about on our bikes! However, we are embarking on this journey as a personal challenge for each of us and also to fund-raise for the New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation who has recently been selected by Zonta New Zealand as its District Project for 2012-14. Whilst NZGCF may not yet be as high profile as some charities, it is the leading charity in this sector, working to save lives by raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of gynaecological cancers with New Zealand women and health professionals. More than one million women around the world are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer every day. In New Zealand alone, one woman dies every day from these cancers. Let’s help make a difference! Many “friends” have said we will have our work cut out to make this journey in the three weeks we have allowed – we want to show them (and ourselves) that we can! To all those who will follow our ride – please enjoy the read - and I am sure we will love your comments. Please help it be a successful fund-raiser for the NZGCF! So we will be out there pedalling away day after day, up hill and down dale, in sunshine, rain and wind to complete this trip - but we really need you to make a donation to make a difference to the charity we are supporting. Brenda, Annie, Don, Margie and our great support vehicle driver - Pat!.
