Budapest is always a treat but during the festive season the Christmas Markets add to its vibrancy! There is beautiful architecture, public art including sculptures and statues.
The Danube Shoes Holocaust Memorial is a moving display.
The ruin bars are a delight! There’s never enough time in Budapest but we always look forward to our return. Until next time, Budapest, thanks for a wonderful few days!

Bratislava, Slovakia is a beautiful city on the Danube and the capital of Slovakia. We were so fortunate to see the Medieval Christmas Market in the castle square!

I love river cruising! I will sing the praises of the most relaxing way to tour through Europe to anyone who will listen. Here is our home while we sail the Danube and visit the Yuletide Markets of Central Europe; the beautiful Oscar Wilde of the Riviera River Cruises fleet. When I embark upon a Riviera ship I feel like I am home. The ships are stunning and are kept impeccably. The crew greets us like we’re long lost friends. After one meal we have found our favorite dining room staff. Our staterooms are serviced twice a day and everything is handled with care. We are given anything for which we ask. Yes, it’s hard to leave and for now I’m not even thinking about it!
And have I mentioned the food?!? Today we were given an ice cream social after lunch with all of the fixings but, remember not to eat too much because tea with scones, cream and sandwiches is served at 4 and dinner has been over the top delicious!

We had a short visit to Budapest but will return next week. I love the beautiful city of Budapest with a young vibe yet beautiful architecture and reminders of its historical prominence! We enjoyed a few markets, shopping on Varçi street and our scenic walk along the Danube.

It was a snowy, fun and exciting last few days in Prague! We had a tour of Prague Castle and our group somehow managed to make the tram ride an adventure on its own! Some pole dancing and lots of laughing!
The castle’s cathedral is full of incredibly detailed art, sculptures, symbolism and crypts for some of the most important people in the Czech Republic.
We had a beautiful snowy day.

Prague, Czech Republic does not disappoint! The eclectic architecture displays the history of the city. From royal rule to communism to democracy. The people are resilient and strong. They choose not to forget yet to forge ahead. Today we wandered through the Old Town and Wenceslas Square Christmas Markets. We also enjoyed my favorite food tour in the world. Eric and I did it 9 years ago and they did such a great job with our group that it is still my favorite!!

Let’s talk European Christmas Markets. There is nothing more festive and magical than a Christmas Market. Town squares are filled with stalls where vendors have spent the year crafting beautiful ornaments, gathering woolen accessories and preparing delicious regional foods. Glüwein (hot mulled wine), grog, cider and hot chocolate are served in beautiful mugs designed for specific markets which make inexpensive souvenirs. Music, performances and ice skating are also common.

Now is the perfect time to start planning a trip to Europe for the Yuletide Markets in 2025 and there no better way to enjoy than on a river cruise.

I’m late for November 2nd but I woke up thinking I am so grateful for friends who invited us to come and stay in their beautiful casita for a weekend of fun and relaxation. It’s been paradise!
