Visiting Pristina, Kosovo, was not originally on my list. But as one of the newest countries in the world, I wanted to learn more about their history and explore this area. Part of Serbia and Albania in its history. Kosovo is a recently recognized country in the world, but not recognized by Serbia, thus an ongoing struggle continues for local people.

The Salina Turda, one of many large salt mines in Romania, is a must visit. Story goes, as miners spent many hours working, they got bored and started building things, which eventually lead to the idea of changing this working mine into what it is today. Visit and play billiards, minigolf and even kayak a small lake!

There are quite a few abandoned areas, all around moldova, two very prominent ones, are the observatory and an old hotel. Be careful as you can get fined or bothered by unsavory people.

One of the cool things about Moldova, is that you can find many soviet souvenirs, from old cccp money, awards, medals, certificates, even identifications of ussr origin. All for a reasonable price. If you buy try and buy this anywhere else in the balkans you may pay upwards of 10-50x more.

Just a few stops on a free walking tour. Some half hazardly "restored" areas. Romania is just beginning to have a more global role and even it's government is still ran by people whom were in power during the communist regime times.

Take a day trip up to bunk art!, you will see that there is one Bunk Art, in the city and another a 30 min bus away. Bunk Art 1, is significantly larger, so if you have the time, I would go here. This location is great for those who love history, you can learn about Albanias military past, political structure and war stories.

Take the Dajti Ekspres, in walking distance from Bunk Art 1, This cable car leads you to the top of Dajti Mountain, which has an amazing viewpoint of the entire city of Tirana. Explore an abandoned hotel, hiking routes and a beautiful restaurant. For those that enjoy gokarts, horses, or paintball guns, bring some cash, as those activities are also available.

If you are short on time, then consider visiting the much closer BunkArt 2. Which still gives you a great overview of Albanias history. If you want to visit both locations, be sure to ask about their combination ticket.

For just $2 you can buy a bus day pass to use all over Skopje! I decided to take a day trip with two guys from my hostel to Matka Canyon. A man-made canyon that was created due to a hydroelectric power plant. This place is a highlight because not only can you take a boat ride down a beautiful canyon, but there is also a natural cave that can be visited!

After a quick stop in Albania, I made my way to North Macedonia. I try and keep abit of local money on hand for souvenirs and emergencies. Generally $10-20. I heard there was 2 bus stations, so I was worried about going to the wrong one. And as I feared, the locals directed me to the wrong bus stop, so with little time, I had to find a taxi. I stared at the meter, as it inched higher and higher to all the cash I had. Luckily I was left with about $2 just enough for a coke and slice of pizza for lunch before taking the bus.

One of the things I recommend everyone does on their first full day in a new city or country, is to see if there are any local "Free walking tours", They are great ways of discovering what the main tourist spots are while learning about the history of a country. While they are free, I generally tip at least $10 USD for the experience.

Surprise! As much as I love the philippines it was time for a change of scenary. When ever I am looking for an escape or change of pace, I pull up google flights and set my destination to "Anywhere" and see where the cheapest flight takes me. Thus begins my journey through the Balkans, ( Greece is EU country)

When in athens, tried to join a pub crawl, but it was cancelled last minute. But a few of us decided, Hey, we are here! Let's go on our own. So we did. One guy had recommended a club very early on, so I was suspicious of him but I brushed it off. The group split up, as some wanted to bar hop first, so we agreed to meet later. A few of us have a blast exploring some local bars, and are ready to join the others at the club. As I enter the location in my GPS I notice the location is far from the city center. As a traveller thats a red flag, most of the sketchy places are further away. We make our way there, and get asked about an entrance fee, normal, but I bring up that our friend had already reserved a table, after abit of mumbling, the bouncers let us in for free.We enter and meet our "new friend" and immediately he welcomes us and says "Hey we purchased a bottle for THIS table, you should buy another so you can get the table next to us so we arent cramped." Its only 5 of us, and one person doesnt drink, secondly, the club was dead. How much for a bottle? $150 Euro, I laugh, and suggest to the other two with me, that we leave. This guy obviously works as a promoter there and is trying to make some easy money.

I love partying as much as the nexy guy, especially when all I have time to do is work and sleep during weekdays. Urban QC is a great place to party hard while on a budget. You will find a mixed crowd, which is great, because being 28, it can feel daunting to be surrounded by 18 year olds at a club. Come early to grab a table, and enjoy the music.

There are many great little spots scattered all over Manila, that are skipped over, one of those is La Mesa Ecopark. While its obvious it used to have a former glory to it, it does need more maintance. But still this park is a great little place for a picnic, or as I saw, wedding photos. Ride little carts around a track, have a picnic by the small river, or even attempt a paintball gun shotout, from a provider right next to the park entrance.
