My dad taught us that beach property appreciates faster. He invested in La Jolla in the 60s and Malibu in the 70s. Unfortunately, he couldn't hold on to those places long enough to make a killing. I followed his advice and of the fourteen properties I've acquired, thirteen of them were on or close to the ocean. I've held onto six of them.
