This is a webinar you won't want to miss if you like cruising the pristine unsalted waters of the Great Lakes.

This seminar will cover the area of Northern Georgian Bay from Byng to Killarney. The area is largely wilderness, has a variety of wonderful anchorages and is unique in the Great Lakes as many of the waters are unsounded. You need a sense of adventure to cruise here.

Congrats!!

A lovely evening was spent with fellow cruisers on beautiful Anchor Bay at the ABYA's September 11th meeting at the North Channel Yacht Club, co-hosted by the Great Lakes Cruising Club. The renowned 1st Mates served up a fantastic spaghetti dinner with homemade meatballs, garlic toast and yummy desserts. Officers gave their reports, Past Commodores were recognized and summer adventure stories were shared. Many came by boat while others arrived via water taxi aboard the NCYC Finrunner.

And a good time was had by all in Little Tub Harbour, Tobermory, on the Bruce Penninsula.

Today was provisioning day with a stop at St. Amants's marina, LCBO and grocery store. We picked up nearly everything on Kelly's list, except sea salt. So we walked 1.5 miles to Wright's Marina to find they don't have provisions. They do have a very friendly staff and Tracy, who runs the marina store, said she has some at home. Sure enough, after work she brought us some sea salt, dried cherries and a chocolate bar. Wow! Back to our anchorage with the goods and a few steps in.

Kelly: We no sooner left our cozy anchorage in Hopewell Bay on Nadeau Island, Georgian Bay, when we decided to duck into another refuge on Eureka Pt. We'd hope to get to Byng to do some provisioning, but wind and rain sent us here--for today and tonight. Back to my book, River of the Gods.

During the mid-20th century, cats played an important role on ships as skilled rodent catchers. Sailors realized that having cats aboard helped control the population of rats and mice, which were notorious for damaging supplies and spreading diseases. These ship cats became valued members of the crew and were even given passports to acknowledge their contribution and ensure their safety during international travels.

The passports for ship cats were a unique and lighthearted tradition. While they didn't serve any legal or official purpose, they were created to recognize the cats' role and provide a form of identification. The passports typically consisted of a small booklet with pages that included the cat's name, description, and an area for their paw print.

This is a very friendly, clean little village. Found some perch for dinner and Little Current blond ale. Went for a walk this morning over to the Foodland grocery store and picked up some locally caught whitefish and two small rainbow trout filets. Kelly has the galley fully stocked as we will be on the hook the next few days.

Today, we celebrate the birthday of a true legend, a man who has touched our hearts and souls with his music for decades. Happy 90th to the one and only Willie Nelson!

He's a symbol of resilience, of standing up for what you believe in, and of never giving up on your dreams. He's a champion of farmers and the working class, using his platform to raise awareness and support for their struggles ❤️🎉

Had a great time at the Great Lakes Cruising Club Region 47 Picnic at St. CLAIR Metro Park on Saturday. The men folk made breakfast for 20 (featuring pancakes and eggs to order) and an amazing picnic lunch for 45+. The guided nature hike through the wetlands was lovely and the competition firece in the afternoon corn hole tournament.

GLCC member David Bartilson "took home" the coveted International Corn Hole Trophy which will be engraved with his name for posterity.

From all appearances, a good time was had by all.
