Lake City ELP The Lake City Environmental Learning Program (ELP) gets youth aged kids learning, loving, and respecting the great outdoors! Home base is Hok-si-La Park.

Lake City ELP connects youth with nature providing experiences to learn & grow in nature while nurturing an appreciation for environment. Since 1995 our organization has been bringing outdoor experiences to Lake City youth. We are fortunate to have a great network of experienced program leaders who have shared their knowledge of clams & mussels, deer ecology, fish habitat and much more. During the

summer we have been able to fund a trained and qualified instructor to safely lead summer activities like kayaking, canoeing, overnight camping, rock climbing, and cave exploring.

150 Lake City area youth in grades 3-12 participate in over 70 programs annually. In addition to our paid summer instruction, over 25 volunteers lead or assist programming during the other nine months of the year. We rely on donations from private donors and organizations to help fund our programming. We are grateful for the support of our large donors that are able to offer financial support toward specific programs and equipment needs. Some of our greatest expenses are insurance and costs related to the summer instructor. If you are able to make a financial contribution to the Lake City ELP, it would be greatly appreciated.

The Lake City ELP was saddened to hear about the passing of one of our past participants, Drew Johnson. We were touched and inspired in hearing about the impact our program had on this young man. Thank you to all our leaders and volunteers who shared their passion of the outdoors with Drew.

You’re Invited to Our Annual Winter Illuminated Walk! Hosted by Lake City Lions Club - MN! 🦁

This year the event will take place during a waning crescent moon! 🌙 With a lot less moonlight this year, we are adding a new spin to the walk! Get ready for a magical winter evening of light, laughter, and fun! Join us as we illuminate our park trail for an unforgettable glow-in-the-dark adventure.
P.S. Let's all cross our fingers and toes for snow! 🤞🤞

What to Bring:
• Light Yourself Up! Deck yourself out with battery-powered or glowing accessories—think LED lights, glow sticks, or creative light-up costumes! ⚡️🔅
• Choose Your Adventure: Walk, snowshoe, or ski along our beautifully illuminated path. 🎿🥾
• Support a Great Cause: Bring non-perishable food items or monetary donations to support our local Lake City Food Shelf. 💕💕

This family-friendly (including our beloved 4-legged, LEASHED pets🦮) event is the perfect way to brighten the winter season. Hot cocoa and treats (provided by Lake City, Durand & Wabasha Fresh Markets) in the warming house or around the fire will be available!!

New this year: Little Piggies EFS Food Truck will also be on site! 🐽

The ELP (Environmental Learning Program) is planning on having a few volunteers to help lend out snow shoes/ski equipment at no charge. *Sizes and equipment will be limited!* Please bring your own equipment if you can!
