Hi travelers, I’ve made my way to Pattaya, Thailand.
If you have ever heard about this town it’s probably that it was established on the s*x trade in the 1960’s. There is still a strong s*x trade that goes on here however the town has grown to embrace other things. There are now some very new and impressive shopping malls, lots of water sports, music festivals, and many many top brand hotels offering high quality accommodation and food options. So there is something for everyone here.
I am here as a solo female traveler and I have not had one seconds issue with being hassled by any men. Let’s be honest, they have many much younger options than me, so I am feeling very safe in that sense 😂😇😊 @ Pattaya

Temples!! Did I hear you say you want to see some temples?

Okay the main and best know temples here in Penang are
- Wat Chayamangkalaram Or the reclining Buddha temple. Built in 1845, this Thai Buddhist temple houses one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in the world. The reclining Buddha statue is completely gold-plated and is 33m long.

- Dharmikarama Burmese Temple which is literally right across the street from the reclining Buddha. The temples grounds are very serene and feature a Bodhi tree, wishing pond and pagoda.

Both of the above temples are very easy to get to on Rapid Penang Bus route 101. The bus takes you right to the street they are both on 👍🏻 very easy indeed.

- Kek Lok Si Temple which is the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia. It is the home to a seven-storey handcrafted “Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddha’s” and a 30.2m bronze Kuan Yin statue. This temple is much further out of Georgetown. You can catch a Rapid Bus there as well, it takes around 35 minutes on the bus. Take route 204 which will also take you to Penang Hill. I would advise going up the hill first then head over to
Kek Lok Si Temple by taxi. It is too far to walk in the heat.

I hope you enjoy. Let me know what your experiences are or have been 🙏🏻

Hey again,
I’m trying to catch you up on my adventures over the last week.

Yesterday I took a guided tour of The Blue Mansion which is in Georgetown. I would suggest taking the tour, it is very informative and the guides tell you all about the Mansion and how it was built and the history of the man and his family who built it. The tour costs only RM17 which is about AUS$5.80. Cheap!!

The man who built this mansion had 8 wives (no wonder he needed a large mansion) 😂😂

This mansion has been used as a location in many movies. The most famous and recent one is Crazy Rich Asians.

This year Netflix booked the mansion out for two weeks and have made a new series that is due to be released this year called The Ghost Bride. Keep an eye out for that later this year.

Enjoy The Blue Mansion I rated it highly 👍🏻😊

I have been in Penang for 9 days now. There is a lot of different things to see here, it just depends on what interests you.

I have included photos of only some of the beautiful old buildings here but there are so many more.

If you like temples there are also many here you can see.

Georgetown is a UNESCO world heritage site so there is a lot of both local and colonial history here that you can indulge yourself in.

Come and have a look for yourself.......it’s worth the trip 😊

Penang City Council have asked local artists to install their artwork on walls all around the old part of Georgetown. There are maps that you can use for a self guided walking tour. The maps are easily marked and it’s fun to find these art works. Some of them are down alley ways and tucked behind corners in laneways but it’s rewarding when you find them. I would suggest doing the walk in the morning as it’s cooler and not as many people doing the same thing as you.
Definitely worth doing this. I really enjoyed it 🙏🏻❤️

I have started a 2 week trip to Penang Malaysia. If you are traveling solo this is a safe place to walk around. I spent yesterday walking all around Georgetown and I felt very safe. It is HOT though and that may trouble some of you. Yesterday’s temperature was 32 degrees but it felt like 39 degrees according to my weather app. More adventures to come tomorrow. Enjoy 😉
