This weekend I’m heading to beautiful South Africa for my own holiday. It will be my 6th visit to the Rainbow Nation and to say I’m excited is an understatement.

Whilst it’s very much a holiday, as always it’s also research, and the focus of this one is to see some incredible boutique properties that have been on my never ending list for ages. I’m also seeking out some ‘new to me’ beach destinations to recommend to clients as alternatives to the more traditional Garden Route.

And of course, I could never go to South Africa without doing a safari, and this one featured on Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby!

What a magical Christmas adventure, thank you so much @comedowntothewoods for trusting me with your travel plans again. I get asked a lot why people may wish to book with me rather than doing it themselves and this particular holiday is a really good way for me to explain it! Katie called me 2 weeks before Christmas. ‘We’re thinking of going away at Christmas, what can you do?’ Within 24 hours I had a proposal for an Icelandic adventure, full of activities I knew they’d love. All they needed to do was say yes. I then helped find restaurant reservations each day, sent packing tips, booked airport parking, printed out their boarding passes and spoke to the hotel to make sure the room was set up correctly for them. I tracked their flight, saw it land and was about to start last minute wrapping when ‘Sarah, they’ve lost all our cases…’ Disaster. It was freezing cold and the cases had all their gifts in! Within 30 minutes, I had a driver ready to take them to a mall to get essentials and within an hour my amazing local team @obeotravel had arranged hire of thermal clothes to see them through the trip. I checked on their lost luggage every half an hour, and when it finally arrived on Christmas Eve arranged a driver to go and collect it so they could continue their activities. When one of their trips was cancelled due to weather, we rearranged it for Christmas Day and even found an alternative restaurant so they could still have dinner. Sometimes travel doesn’t go to plan, but you can be assured that I’m there for you 24/7.
