Asgard On The Road After 5 years of living on a boat, it's time for another change. What's next... even we are not sure!

We used Sniff Spot and found this cool location for Loki's first swim! In addition to a really nice pool, this place had dog toys galore, and a small village of themed dog houses. As for the swimming, Loki was a bit timid about the water, but turned out to be a really good swimmer with a little coaxing. After a couple more pool sessions, we think he'll start to really like the water.

A small dose of Loki cuteness. He had his first trip to the vet yesterday, where everyone told him how adorable he is. Then an introduction to his grandparents where he mostly slept. Being a puppy is hard work!

We went to Meteor Crater and did some site seeing, but picking up this little guy yesterday was the main point of our weekend getaway. Being a Jack Russell and wanting to stick with the Viking theme, we felt Loki would be the most appropriate name since we're sure he will be causing a lot of mischief!

Time for another weekend road trip! Today, we drove from Globe to Holbrook, AZ. First stop was at the Salt River Canyon, which is like a mini-Grand Canyon. Then we headed up to the Petrified Forest National Park and Painted Desert. Arizona has no shortage of stunning scenery!

We started off the day visiting the Titan Missle Museum. Then, lunch at El Charro...a restaurant that claims to have invented the chimichanga! Finally, we took a drive to the top of Mt. Lemmon, enjoying a lot of scenic views along the way.

Our first spring in Arizona has been interesting. A LOT of rain, an unforecasted snow storm as we drove from Globe to Phoenix, and now a major thunderstorm that included about 30 minutes of pea-sized hail! At least storms in the 5th wheel aren't as stressful as storms while on the boat!

We spent the morning exploring within a 25 mile radius of our RV park. First stop was Tonto National Monument, where we were able to hike up to a set of cliff dwellings and enjoy some amazing views. We then headed further north to check out a bridge and the dam that was built to create Roosevelt Lake. Finally, we went the opposite direction to Globe to sample some AZ wines at Waggin' Vineyard and have lunch at Nurd Berger. Not a bad morning!

Day 6 in Oregon was our final full day. We drove up the coast from Depoe Bay to Rockaway Beach, with our main stop being the beautiful Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City. At the end of the day, it was back to Portland as we fly home tomorrow morning.

Day 5 in Oregon. 3 lighthouses, several beaches, and a lot of sea lions! We drove from Coos Bay to Depoe Bay, making many stops along the way. Sea Lion Cave and Yaquina Head were the highlights, but the view from our hotel room wasn't too shabby either. The challenge is to narrow it down to just ten pictures for this post!

Day 3 in Oregon was the reason for the trip...Autumn and Dylan's wedding. The ceremony and reception took place just outside Roseburg, OR, at a nice little vineyard/winery.

Day 2 in Oregon was another day of wine tasting. With so many vineyards, you can just go down any road and find several. Our choices for the day were Durant and White Rose.

Very rainy on our first day in Oregon, so we drove straight to McMinnville and started sampling some local beers and wines. McMinnville sure has changed over the last 25 years!

Picked up our new fifth wheel today! It's a 2023 Grand Designs 310GK. Having never towed a fifth wheel and never towed anything this big, it was a bit of a stressful day. However, it couldn't have gone more smoothly. We'll be moving in slowly, but this has so much more space than the boat!

Quick trip to Casa Grande, AZ, in order to check off another National Park/Monument. Casa Grande Ruins National Monument was established as a park in 1892 making it the first prehistoric and cultural reserve established in the United States. The ruins are what remains of one of the largest prehistoric structures ever built in North America. It is believed that the ancestral Sonoran Desert people used this and surrounding structures until approximately 1450 C.E.

After some culture, we enjoyed good beer and food at Old Ellsworth Brewing Company.

Quick trip to Cottonwood on Christmas to see family. Then some site-seeing on our own the following day. We made a few stops in Sedona, which was beautiful, but very cold and crowded. Then Montezuma's Castle and Tuzigoot before heading home.

Went for an early morning, cold, overcast hike at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum located about 30 miles from Phoenix. Still a lot of fall colors present, and even saw a group of coatimundi (desert raccoons that live in trees).

It's another end of an era for us, and this is a big one! Asgard officially sold yesterday! For now, we have an apartment in Arizona, but we plan to keep traveling as much as we can...just not by boat. Since Asgard won't be part of our future, we'll be changing our Instagram/Facebook name soon. Any suggestions?

Yesterday was another race day in Grenada. As usual, the location of our boat gave us a great view of all the action. The boats are J24s. There were 4 boats and they would just do crew changes after each race. Fun to watch, but a few came WAY too close to both us!

We've owned Asgard for five years, lived on her almost that entire time, and cruised full-time in the Bahamas and Caribbean for the last two years. She has been a great boat, but we're ready for the next adventure. So, we're selling her and moving to Arizona!

She's priced to sell, and the next owner is going to get a fully capable cruiser. They'll be able to bring their clothes to Grenada and immediately start their sailing adventure.

Carriacou is easily one of our favorite islands. Besides amazing sunsets, the people are friendly, and the food is good. However, we left there today and are now back in Grenada. Our sailing adventure is coming to a close as we will be selling the boat and moving back to the states. It's been an amazing 2 years, but we are now ready for the next adventure!
