Located in the historic center of Monte Porzio Catone is the Egidi Bakery, since 1600 the building was purchased by the Borghese princes to be used as flour mill. Later in 1850, the Egidi family purchased the mill and started the bread-making business with grandfather Luigi as progenitor, then with Romeo, Ultimo, Pacífico and his sons Alfredo and Umberto. The bakery rises with steps and a portal in Sperone stone of Tusculum (a local stone of volcanic origin that is no longer extracted, similar to tuff), from which the unmistakable and delicious aroma of freshly baked bread and cakes spreads. Situato nel centro storico di Monte Porzio Catone si trova il Panificio Egidi, fin dal 1600 lo stabile fu acquistato dai principi Borghese per destinarlo all'attività molitoria per la produzione di farine. Più tardi nella seconda parte dell'ottocento si avviò l’attività di panificazione da parte della famiglia con capostipite nonno Luigi poi con Romeo, Ultimo, Pacífico e i figli Alfredo e Umberto. Il panificio si eleva con dei gradini e portale di pietra Sperone del Tuscolo (pietra locale di origine vulcanica non più estratta, simile al tufo), da cui si diffonde l'inconfondibile e delizioso aroma del pane e dei dolci appena sfornati.
