She returned to the US in the mid 1980’s to study at Parsons School of Design. In 1989, while studying at Parsons, Kim was recruited by Calvin Klein. Within a few years, she became Calvin Klein’s primary knitwear designer and was behind the launch of the CK Calvin Klein line at the time when the company was riding high on the success of the Kate Moss and Marky Mark underwear campaign. After six ye
ars, Kim recognized a need in the market for experienced knitwear designers and started her own consultancy business in 1995. Kim Haller Design was created to provide concept, design and technical support for established designers eager to expand their own knitwear collections. For the last 19 years Kim has designed knitwear for some of the leading names in fashion, including Derek Lam, Jason Wu, TSE Cashmere, Maiyet, Costello Tagliapietra, Adam Lippes, DKNY, Adrienne Vittadini, Anne Klein and many more. From 2000 – 2004, Kim was the design director for Michael Kors Collection, men’s and women’s knitwear. Her capacity to conceptualize and design into any designer’s viewpoint and deliver high quality sweaters to clients, while managing the technical challenges of knitwear makes her one of the most highly sought after creative partners in the business. Kim Haller has long desired to create a line that represents the culmination of her experience and vision. Her Fall ‘14 line demonstrates her mastery of yarns and capacity to invent complex stitches. Having traveled the world shopping the market for sweaters, she has developed a distinct eye for style and appreciation for sweaters that make a strong visual impact.
