Cobh has to be one of the most colourful towns in Ireland! Located in east County Cork, Cobh is a town known for it's beautifully colourful and vibrant architecture, one of Cobh's standouts would have to be Saint Colman's Cathedral which is not only Ireland's tallest church building, but one of the most intricately designed! Another thing Cobh has going for it is it's history as it was not only one of the first colonies ever established in Ireland with Neimheidh landing in Cobh over 1,000 years BC but also the final port of call for the Titanic! The Titanic Museum is like a portal to life aboard the Titanic! Located in Belfast, Co. Antrim, the Titanic Museum has many artefacts from the Titanic itself and exhibits that display how the Titanic operated and what it was like to be a passenger on the Titanic! The design of the building also merits interest due to it's unique shape, it's three prows are intended to represent the Titanic and it's sister ships the Olympic and Britannic, it's also built to the exact height of the Titanic's hull at 38 metres high! Blarney Castle is one of Ireland's finest pieces of medieval history! Built in 1446 near Cork city, Blarney Castle is a shining example of Irish history! Walking through Blarney Castle feels like stepping into a time machine and going back to the Middle Ages, with many rooms to explore and learn about their uses, it really is one of the most fascinating places to visit! Another of Blarney Castle's features is the world famous Blarney Stone, rumoured to have been found by the builder of Blarney Castle when he was involved in a lawsuit, he appealed to an ancient Irish Goddess for assistance who told him to kiss the stone, he did and went on to win the lawsuit and ever since Blarney Stone has been said to give the gift of eloquent speech or the 'gift of the gab'! Kilkenny Castle is a beautiful example of medieval Irish architecture! Located in Kilkenny city, Kilkenny Castle was built in 1260 and was a symbol of Norman Occupation that in it's original 13th century condition would have made up a big part of the towns defences! It saw a lot of battle throughout the Irish Confederate wars and by the 20th century had fallen into disrepair, in 1967 it was sold to the castle restoration committee for a ceremonial £50! Day 3. Today we started with an interview for Irish TV.. A very strong message today from the Irish with Paddywagon and also Martleys of Portlaoise all heading out with aid… The sun is shining the drivers are fresh and ready for the autobahn next stop Warsaw..
