GOOD MORNING, ZANZIBAR!
Sleeping on the porch and waking up to this....let the day begin!!
Elephants for an evening drink. (We're really not as close as we appear. Safety first!)
The Chobe River in Botswana/Namibia: part sparkle, part spectacle, but never dull!
NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED
This clip is from a long drawn-out battle between a leopard and possibly two lion prides as it's hard to tell who's on what team. A lioness originally chased the leopard under a large bush then called in others to help flush it out. Finally, the male lion came in for the kill and there was a huge ruckus under the bush which ended with the lions chasing each other across the plains and the leopard walking out.
The lions then cornered the leopard again which is where this clip picks up. A leopard's best line of defense is to lie on its back with its claws extended and teeth bared - which is what is happening here.
The leopard is still very much alive at the end of this clip but faking it in hopes that the lions will lose interest - which most of them did. However, not all of them.....

This video goes hand-in-hand with the last, so I'll post it now as well. This was the transfer to our boat from Brooks Falls to the Katmai Coast for more bear photography.

We flew from Brooks Falls by floatplane to meet our hotel ship in Geographic Harbor on the Katmai Coast where we spent the last four days photographing coastal bears in in Geographic Harbor and Kukak and Hallo bays. Extraordinary!

Nothing beats the visual sensation of observing and photographing bears up close. I've been a professional bear guide in Lake Clark National Park for thirteen years, and I never get tired of watching them.
You're in safe hands when you join The Fishing Bears of Katmai, 11 - 22 July, 2021. There's one spot left for a male photographer, sharing with another.
