1. The Great Kosher Restaurants Scavenger Hunt will begin on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 9:00 am EST.
2. The Hunt will end on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 11:59 PM EST.
3. The Grand Prize Winners will be announced on Monday, November 10th and any or all of their members will be invited to come to Kosherfest on Wednesday, November 12 where they will be handed their grand prize trophy and a whole assortment of prizes!
4. The hunt will consist of 3 weekly rounds. On each of the 3 Tuesdays, each team will be sent a list of about 30-40 clues and tasks. All submissions must be sent in by the Sunday night of each round. Submissions will be made by emailing [email protected]. The earlier you submit your answers, the more points you will get for your team. There will be weekly prizes for top teams as well as instant prizes that will pop up throughout all 3 weeks. The clues and tasks will vary from easy, moderate and hard and based on the difficulty and importance, will be issued a point value. For example:
- Finding a certain word or solving a clue on the Great Kosher Restaurants website could be 5 points.
- Taking a picture with a certain chef could be 15 points.
- Washing the dishes at any participating GKR restaurant could be 25 points. There will also be relay races within the game for more prizes that will rely on you solving a clue or completing a task where you will then be handed the next clue to be solved and so on. For example:
- Going to a restaurant in NY and be blindfolded where you will have to take a taste test and solve which mystery food you are tasting.
- Once complete, you will be handed a clue where someone in Florida will have to visit a certain restaurant and find a mystery envelope under a seat with another clue and so on.
- Once the last clue is complete and they submit all the clues, a prize will be awarded to them. Remember, no bothering patrons of restaurants while collecting clues.
5. The locations involved in the GKRM Hunt include: New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Florida, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, California, Denver and Las Vegas, Toronto (subject to change).
6. There must be at least 2 members per team and there is a limit of 30 members per team. We recommend that you get members from many of these above cities to help you through the race as they will have to travel to a variety of restaurants. We also advise you to get members who are social media savvy and have a smartphone as many of the clues will require you to possibly post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Team members can be added as clues are given out. All team members must register for the GKRM Hunt but there will be only 1 team leader per team who will send in the submissions for their team. Each team should create a unique and creative name that will be used throughout the hunt for identification. All email submissions must have your team name in the subject line or they will not be counted. If a task requires you to post on Facebook or Instagram, you must make that post /your profile public and it must be hashtagged or you will not receive points for that task. Keep in mind, if a team has won a prize, the team captain will receive it and it will be up to him/her how it used or distributed. Examples of prizes that will be awarded daily, weekly and be included in the grand prize (and is subject to change) can be:
- Hundreds of dollars in certificates to a variety of restaurants
