Did you hear me on the radio? That's right, I had the pleasure of being interviewed for CBC Radio about my WWI Cemetery Tour last weekend!!

If you want to hear it for yourself, copy/paste the link below and remove the spaces before and after CBC, or search for CBC Radio Fresh Air Echoes of Valour. Tell me what you think! Do I have a voice for radio?

During WWI, Canada fought under the Red Ensign, our flag until 1965 when we adopted the Red Maple so connected to our national identity.

*Edit: of course I chose the wrong picture in my roll! This is the original flag representing the first 4 provinces. The flag Canadians fought under during WWI depicted all 9 provinces.

Today I remember my grandfather, Chief Petty Officer Thomas Masterson Morris, who served on the HMCS Griffon in the Royal Canadian Navy. From what I understand, my grandmother Lillian worked in a factory putting together airplanes or ships. I never had the opportunity to speak to either of them about their experiences.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row.

John McCrea, the poet who wrote In Flander's Fields, was one of countless Canadians who gave their life serving their country in The Great War. Prospect Cemetery in Toronto is the largest World War I interment site in Canada. Join Toronto Cemetery Tours as we explore key battles in the war that changed the world and meet some people who fought and died in the name of Canada.

A portion of any tips given will be donated to War Amps Canada and The Royal Canadian Legion.

Another weekend of tours is over and can I just say how magical and humbling it is to spend this time with you all. Thank you for walking with me, for learning with me, and for laughing each and every time I said "dirty, poopy water."

Hey folks, we're trying something new this year at Toronto Cemetery Tours. Your comments and feedback have been heard! Based on your suggestions, we've created a registration list for the tour this October. This is to limit the group size so everyone can hear and we all have a good day. The tour is still FREE.

Please, if you don't intend to attend, don't register for the event! This takes a spot away from someone who wants to go and plans to show up!

Check out the event listing for all the details or use the link to register!
