Obituary of Chris Hatshe
Mr Chris Montshonyane Hatshe’s journey began on the 1st January 1963 in the heart the mighty renowned Okavango delta at Tsobaroo in Xaxaba, a settlement in NG27/B.
It is here where Chris was well raised by his parents and the natural habitat consequently became aware of the challenges and opportunities that the Okavango Delta has to offer to his community.
Chris started his career in the tourism industry from working in numerous Camps within the Okavango Delta as a barman, continued to be a professional guide, then manager until he transitioned to start his own operations in 2007.
This was mainly inspired by the poverty level in Xaxaba settlement, so as to create employment for the people of his community.
Mr Hatshe currently owns and runs a mobile safari company known as Afrika Ecco Safaris. This company has its operational base in Maun but specializes mainly in running mobile safaris to tourist destinations around Botswana and Mokoro excursions from Xaxaba to areas deep into the Okavango Delta such as Jao flood plains and Chiefs Island-areas which are world renowned for their teeming and diverse wildlife. Mr Hatshe is also the director and shareholder of Sky bird (Pty) Ltd which trades as Machaba Safaris.
May his soul rest in Peace
