La Fontana di Borgo Pio è una piccola perla incastonata nel pittoresco quartiere di Borgo, a Roma. Immagina una fontana costruita intorno al 1860 sotto l’egida di Papa Pio IX, alimentata dalla purissima Acqua Marcia. Questo gioiellino si trova in un angolo tranquillo della suggestiva Piazza del Catalone, a due passi dalla maestosità di Via della Conciliazione e dalla Basilica di San Pietro.

È affascinante pensare che l'acqua che sgorga da questa fontana provenga dall'Acquedotto Marcio, amorevolmente restaurato dallo stesso Papa nel 1870. La fontana è composta da un bel portico in mattoni con un arco e una vasca in travertino. I simboli papali del triregno e delle chiavi incrociate decorano la struttura, richiamando l’eleganza e la tradizione della Roma antica.

Passare davanti a questa fontana è come immergersi in un brano di storia romana. È uno di quei luoghi intimi e poco conosciuti che mantengono intatta la magia di un tempo passato.
