I am an artist who loves creating mosaics with colored glass by taking anywhere from old wood framed windows to furniture items such as bookshelves, coffee tables, etc...and turning them into something new. I love the idea of taking something that used to have a purpose that would get thrown out or considered useless, and restoring it to a new & glorious place of beauty. As a kid I was always draw
n to colored glass marbles, didn't play the game well, but loved going to flea markets and 5 and Dime stores to buy and collect them. Our vacations consisted of going to visit family out east and we would always want to go to this one particular pottery factory. Now as an adult I take broken glass pieces or the "left over" pieces that other artists don't want anymore and turn them into a new beautiful creation. So often most of us, if we are honest with ourselves tend to look at the places in life where we are not "getting it right" or we feel like we have failed, or that we are not good enough. Then it feels like things get messy and life pokes at us as if it were a piece of broken glass! And yet, the truth is we really are beautiful and we really do get things right. We are not failures, simply put, we are people who fail sometimes...
So with that said, I like to take these beautiful pieces of colored glass, sharp edges and all and create something with a presence of beauty about it! One of the cool things about it is that the reflection of the light behind the pieces & on the pieces are when it's true beauty shines forth. It's kind of like us...when we are doing those things in life that we love the most and that which brings us joy and delight, it's in those moments when we are reflecting our true beautiful colors. However please note that each piece is very uniquely different from the next, they are kind of like us in that no two of us are alike even though there will be similarities.
