ADAPT
Advanced Designated Assessment Planning and Tracking Tool
ADAPT is a new on-line mental health screening instrument designed specifically for children and youth in the child welfare system. Developed by a psychologist and a psychiatrist with many years of clinical experience in the field, ADAPT addresses the complex issues involved in providing mandated mental health care to
this diverse population:
Advanced: Adapt is an on-line instrument available 24/7 to the caregiver and/or caseworker. If requested information is not immediately available, the instrument can be paused indefinitely while the information is obtained, resulting in a more complete and valid assessment. A printable report is available immediately upon completion. Designated: Adapt solves the problem of lost or incomplete information when a child moves from one agency, caregiver, or geographical location to another. A designated User Name and Password goes with the child wherever he or she goes. The data remains stored in the ADAPT data base and can be accessed anytime, anywhere immediately. ADAPT provides a virtual mental health care home for displaced children. Assessment: Federal law mandates mental health screening for all children in care. Unfortunately cost, convenience, and time constraints often result in these mandates going unment. To address these concerns, ADAPT has been developed to be affordable, accessible on-line in the home or agency office, and available 24/7. And ADAPT is the only instrument of its kind that provides a comprehensive BioPsychoSocial screening (as recommended by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry). Issues addressed include:
Biological - psychiatric, medical, genetic, substances (including medication) Psychological - behavioral, cognitive, emotional
Social - traumatic, systemic, environmental
Planning: Because ADAPT assesses the broad range of BioPsychoSocial issues impacting children in care, it is able to provide direction to the caregiver and agency for appropriate planning. Each child receives an individualized suggested care plan which addresses his/her particular mental health care needs. Tracking: Because ADAPT can be retaken at regular intervals at no additional cost, it provides a simple, consistent method of tracking a child’s response to care over time and across agencies. This allows for timely interventions and appropriate alterations to the treatment plan.
