Time to take a deep breath after running from all the Zombies at the Undead 5K. Our condolences to the UC Mountaineering Club, they showed up to help and promptly turned into Zombies. My advice, be careful going to UC as the Zombie Apocalypse must be in full swing down there.

Got the shirts ordered today. A very cool design and one you will for sure want to wear during the next Zombie Apocalypse.

I have heard through the Zombie grapevine that virtually every Zombie in Cincinnati will be at the Undead 5K. Good luck surviving that!

Can it be just under a month to the scariest and funnest 5K in Cincinnati? The Undead 5K, a 5 kilometer fun run and walk at Kingswood Park in Deerfield Township at 4pm on October 24. Navigate the 5k course through hordes of Zombies. Chip timed but the fastest won't necessarily survive. You have to be smart through the many twists, turns and challenges on the course. And then, of course, you have to listen to the Zombie jokes at the finish line, like this one, "What does a Zombie get when he is late for dinner? A cold shoulder.' HA!

Summer is ending. What does that mean? Zombie season is upon us. Just 8 weeks until the Undead 5K, a unique 5K Run/Walk where you time (and survival!) may just depend on how fast you can outrun the Zombies on the course.

Just saw a press release about one of the mud runs featuring tear gas this year. So their plan is to gas you, burn you and electrocute you. On the other hand, you could try to get through a bunch of Zombies trying to eat your flesh and brains........

The Undead 5K website at www.undead5K.com is updated and registration is open. We have an all new course at Kingswood Park and have moved the race back to 4pm so we can have a very Zombie appropriate celebration at the end of the race.

Got photos? If you have photos of any Zombies, or photos of you and friends out on the course, please send them to [email protected] and we will see if we cannot get them up on the website.

What a great day! I hope that everybody had as much fun doing the Undead 5K as we did putting the race on. And thanks to our over 70 Zombies out on the course. I think we only had a few runners that did not make it back......

Stay tune for announcements about next year's race. Same date, registration opens soon.

We are working on the Pre-Race email right now and should email it to all participants sometime this afternoon. It will also be posted on the website. In addition, wave starts will be posted this afternoon. We will do our best to honor those who want to race in the same wave, just let us know BEFORE Oct. 23 at 8pm.

Five weeks to go. Very cool shirts ordered. Lots of Zombies are standing by. Problem, though, we have all these Zombies standing by and it is very hard to control them from eating all of us. Can hardly wait to turn them loose. They will be very hungry.

Ordering shirts, medals and other cool stuff for the race. We will get pictures of the finisher medals up soon!

We have had a couple of questions about possibly doing the Undead 5K in the early evening. Let's keep that in mind for 2015. It is certainly something to think about. The folks at Deerfield Township are great and will certainly work with us if we want to change our start time in 2015.

We are back! The Undead 5K: The Zombie Apocalypse is scheduled for October 25 at Kingswood Park in Mason. We will be posting here when we have updates or news about the Undead 5K.

Runners traverse 5 kilometers of Zombie infested terrain. No worries, all the Zombies want to do is eat your brains and feast on your flesh. The course will challenge you with choices that may affect your survival. Do you have the wits and fitness to survive?

The object is to survive and cross the finish line with your "health" intact.

Finisher medals will be given to all finishers, alive or dead. Custom and unique awards are given to the top 3 survivors in in each age group.

This is not an obstacle or "mud" run. Avoiding Zombies and making correct choices to get to the finish line as quickly as possible is what this race is all about.

Runners will be issued 3 flags to wear on a belt. The flags represent your "health". As long as you have one flag you are still “alive". There will be "medical" stations on the course where you can get back a flag and so avoid becoming a Zombie.

The object is to cross the finish line - anyway you can - with at least one flag and YOU HAVE SURVIVED!

If the Zombies get your flags, well, your dead. You may have a chance to get another flag at one of our health stations or you can finish the race as part of the Undead.

There will be two finish divisions, those who have survived and who will be eligible for age group awards, and the Undead, who will still get their time.

All registrants receive a T-shirt and Finisher Medal.

Bring the kids! Kids under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult.

Please feel free to wear a costume of your choice. In deference to our Zombies, whose feelings are very sensitive, please do not wear a Zombie costume.

The Undead 5K will start in waves, with the first wave starting at 8:00am.

Packet pickup will be on Friday, October 24 from 4-7pm and again on Race Day at 6am at Kingswood Park.
