Thank you for visiting our website. We pride ourselves on our warm, positive and welcoming environment. We are a local organisation providing information and support to families experiencing difficulties accessing the help and assistance that is available to them. These children, young adults and their families are often being lost within the system and are not being made aware of the government f
unding available to them. As a team we have many valuable years of experience working with children and young adults with high functioning special needs. We feel privileged to have had this opportunity and believe these children and young adults justifiably deserve the opportunities and life experiences readily available that most of us take for granted. The parents and carers who have the very rewarding, but sometimes challenging responsibility of looking after these children and young adults sometimes find it harder to fight for help and support they need. Some high functioning special needs children and young adults are unable to access government funding because they are not eligible for Disability Living Allowance. As a parent being faced with this difficulty the whole situation can become overwhelming due to the added demands of everyday life. This can result in the young people involved, not reaching their full potential and getting the most out of their lives. Contentment and general happiness being paramount. These children and young adults can at times be vulnerable within society due to their needs not being as apparent as other with more visual disabilities and special needs. As well as the individual often missing out, the whole of the local community does too. These young individuals have a very different, abstract view of life that could enrich the "normal" day to day life of all of us. It's extremely important that the more 'high functioning' special needs youngsters feel included in society, so that they do not feel left out and frustrated, knowing full well, that they are capable of so much more. Ordinary citizens must be made to be aware of this, we're sure you will agree? Most of all though, if a special needs young person is happy in their social life, then their family life becomes so much more enriched and relaxed. A sentiment of healthy excitement and anticipation, of something to look forward to, just has to be a good thing! Our aim is to make sure that all of these individuals make the most out of their lives and fulfil most if not all of their dreams.
