Continuing to write on "Sparkbirds of the World".
Does anyone have a sparkbird they only read about? For me, it was the Puffin. I was 9 when I read Enid Blyton's Sea of Adventure. It would take some 17 years before I saw my first Puffins in Runde, Norway.
I can't remember the plot, but I do remember Huffin and Puffin. Anyone, else?

What a fantastic first day in Spain. Andujar Mountains delivered. This young male Iberian Lynx immediately at close range filmed with the phone.

Also Spanish Imperial Eagle and a bunch of other birds.

Listen to the Bucket List Birding Pod conversation I had with Peter Kaestner - the number one eBirder of the world. Although, an extreme lister, he also has many stories about bucket list destinations and special memories from trips.
We talk about India and Taj Mahal, about Peru, about ebird and Merlin, and a fair bit about Antpittas - a group of birds very close to Peter's heart.
Here is a Ayacucho Antpitta - photographed on the expeditions we did together in July 2021.

From our newsletter just published:
https://archive.aweber.com/awlist5245228/9n3rU
Peru is the safest country in Latin America (together with Dominican Republic and Bolivia), according to the US Center for Disease Control. Formerly, Peru was on Level 3 (High Risk) and has been downlisted to Level 2 (Moderate Risk). If you are vaccinated, you should have very little to worry about if you come to Peru, especially as social distancing and use of masks are still obligatory here. Check out this graph from today below with average daily values (over 7 days) of new COVID cases per 100 000 inhabitants. Where would you rather be?

COVID SAFE BIRDING IN SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER?
Where do you want to go birding?
We are adapting the 7 Wonders Birding offerings for late September-October to a destination with little travel restrictions, as I also have time and opportunity for guiding outside of the Neotropics. Main 7WB guide Gunnar Engblom will be in Europe anyway (running Berlin Marathon) and could easily reach Africa from there.

Would you be interested in a small group tour of 7-14 days with Gunnar Engblom to either of these places, COVID permitting? Most, if not all, are open for vaccinated US travellers without quarantine.

✅ Southern Spain - Iberian Lynx. This one is scheduled and would run with two people.
✅ Namibia - Search for Pangolin, Cheetah and Black Rhino.
✅ Uganda - Shoebill, Gorilla and Chimps
✅ Tanzania - climbing (including summiting) and birding Kilimanjaro
✅ Tanzania - Safari including Serengeti and Ngorongoro.

All, but Namibia and parts of Tanzania, have itineraries already on the website. Namibia and Tanzania programs will soon be added.
Let me know which you are most interested and we will try to get a group together!😘😘😘

If you want to go to Peru, now we are enjoying the lowest COVID levels since the onstart of the pandemic. No quarantine needed.

I am preparing for my podcast - The Bucket List Birding podcast. Apart from the regular podcast, I plan also to release it on YouTube and make a blog post.
For the latter two, images and video are needed. Right now I am looking for material from Egypt. Have you birded Egypt? Do you have any good images or video clips that you allow me to use (credited of course with links to your site)?
Here are a few pics with Creative Commons licence from the internet that I may use - or not - depending what I can get from you and my Facebook crowd-source community. Thanks in advance!

Our Alhambra and Iberian Lynx tour in May is cancelled, alas. But guess what. We shall run it in early OCTOBER instead. The Lynxes have had a good spring and many young. We shall be able to spot females with rather large cubs in October when the temperature of southern Spain is much more agreeable.
It is also an extremely good short tour for raptors.
Additionally, we visit the serene and magically beautiful Alhambra and the sumptuous Mosque of Cordoba on this 6 day tour, filled with birds, wildlife, and Spanish/Moorish culture and food.

For those with more time we offer a pre-tour to the raptor migration of Tarifa, the Bald Ibis reintroduction program, Little and Great Bustard and many more.

THE BUCKET LIST BIRDING PODCAST.
Having done a series of vlogs that last 12 months, I am going to take the plunge and produce a podcast. I have set a date for launch to April 23 and am preparing material at this moment. Three episodes will be published at once in order to get the best immediate response.
Below are some of the topics I will cover in the next 25 episodes or so!

* Bucket List Birding Destinations
* Bucket List mammals
* Big Cats
* Birding birding by bird families
* Spark-birds around the world

Please share with me your bucket lists, your spark-birds that got you into birding and your stories around these.

There will likely be YouTube versions also of each episode, so anyone wanting to contribute with photos and video (credited) for the upcoming episodes, please let me know.

I AM SCARED TO DEATH.... but I am guessing I will eventually get into it.
