Global research shows that LEDs achieve 50-70% energy savings and in fact, if LEDs reached their full potential they could almost single-handedly eliminate lighting as a major source of global emissions. Commulite goes further using smart programmable controls and multiple light and power levels. One housing block with as few as 100 lamps can provide a reduction in CO2e of 9,000 kg. that’s about 9 tonnes of coal. How many similar blocks do you have
Think of it 9 tonnes every block every year. Commulite is bar far the smartest choice you will make. Lighting levels can be remotely adjusted throughout a building, meaning that energy is only used where it is needed. Emergency/Communal Combined
The safety of your residents and building users is our priority. With emergency compliance regulations becoming more demanding and enforcement notices increasing, Commulite was designed with the future of emergency contingency in mind. Running for nine hours whilst in emergency-mode, Commulite’s system is designed to far exceed standard safety regulations (currently three hours). EVERY fitting is an emergency fitting eliminating the need to locate emergency packs here and there to comply with the regulations and statute. Total design compliance is a given. You will always have enough light for any ‘lights out ‘ situation. Remember most such situations are not caused by fire, bur are usually the result of some electrical fault elsewhere such as main fuses or nuisance tripping. No need to worry with Commulite. Your safe lighting will run for NINE hours, enough to get your residents safely through the night. There’s peace of mind for the residents and of course you! Intelligent
Commulite is the most intelligent LED system on the market. We are continually developing the technology we use and our clients reap the benefits. We’ve harnessed the full potential of LED technology by uniquely combining it with our ‘smart control’ system. This means lighting can be programmed, and varied to suit the needs of the residents who live in the dwellings. The software is an open protocol system that means you are not tied in forever. Your engineers can learn the system in hours, but in any case Commulite engineers are always available to help, reprogramme, advise and visit all at no additional cost to you or your contractors. Seven different light levels can be adjusted day and night according to the needs of different areas within the same building e.g. staircases, balconies, lift lobbies etc., and all can have variable independent switching times. The right light at the right place and time. Sectors:
Social
Save budget, save the planet and create safer spaces for your residents and service users. At a time when there is ever-increasing pressure on the Public Sector to create further efficiencies in spending, the reduced energy use of LED lighting has a huge impact in terms of cost-savings. Our Social Housing and Local Authority installations will save you thousands of pounds. See case studies from other housing authorities. The Commulite system is designed to save money spent on energy and maintenance. That also includes having to have staff travelling to and from each building using fuel unnecessarily. Our solar-tracking system means there is no longer a need to manually adjust time clocks or make adjustments for daylight saving – this happens automatically… every day every year., and if that’s not enough the whole system in every block can be remotely monitored from anywhere in the world, and send alerts in any ‘fault ‘ situation occurs. Commercial
Save money and create a better, brighter, more efficient environment for your clients and residents. Hotels, Leisure Centres, Car Parks, Commercial Buildings and others have benefited from Commulite’s system. Basically any organisation responsible for communal areas will save money, reduce energy wastage and create better lit, safer environments thanks to our advanced LED lighting technology. Commulite is the only system to ‘payback’ the capital cost in less than three years
In addition, thanks to Commulite’s ‘smart control’ system and solar tracking, there is no longer any need for manual adjustments. While Commulite’s remote testing module means that our system will periodically run tests and log outcomes and data log the results. Because Commulite offers advanced and variable light levels, not only will your premises be safer for clients, residents or employees, they will also provide more subdued lighting during the night, reminding everyone that it is ‘night time’ very handy in a hotel or care home. Frequently Asked Questions
Q You claim that the Commulite battery life is 5 years. For a lead acid cell, that is very impressive. How do you guarantee it for so long? A Because of the way our system uses the batteries, and because we can control how the batteries are ‘cycled’ we are able to guarantee their life expectancy. Our batteries have a design life of 12 years and we are able to offer a second five year warranty term to our partners. Backed by the FSA and fully insured, our warranty guarantees a free replacement in the unlikely event that any component does not perform as it should. As our prices imply, we are confident that we will not be replacing many batteries! Q You claim that you can provide a second term 5 year warranty, what does that mean? A At the end of their useful life, 50,000 hours or over five years when running them 24/7, you will need to replace the LED boards within the luminaires. If you do that between years five and six, we will provide you a second insurance backed warranty for a further five year period… on the whole system. Nice Commulite people
Q Commulite claims to a payback period of less than three years. Is there any data to back this up? A Three years is very typical and based on actual schemes. Obviously every installation is unique and payback times will be calculated on your preferences (switching times, usage etc.). We will provide an accurate payback time before you commit to any costs. Q Commulite claims that its system is tougher and more durable than other LED lighting. Surely all LED lighting is the same? A Commulite is in fact superior in many ways. With no fallible components within the lamp enclosure and a tamper proof seal on each enclosure for a minimum of five years, the durability of our lamps is market-leading. All other LED manufacturers’ fittings contain drivers, battery packs, and inverters etc., all of which are additional maintenance items not required by Commulite. So, although their LEDs may last, the other components will not. These additional components within other manufacturers’ fittings are also heat generating, which is another problem as heat severely diminishes LED performance. Some manufacturers add caveats to their warranties, voiding them if the LEDs are subjected to temperatures above 25∘C. Commulite fittings are tested and guaranteed from -40∘C to +50∘C, and are much more suited to our real world. Q How can Commulite achieve such good light levels whilst using so little energy? A Other LED manufacturers have problems achieving the correct light levels when combined with an OPAL diffuser, losing around 40% of the lamp’s output. Commulite’s unique diffuser, is a unique product which loses almost no light output and does not allow the LED ‘spotting’ which accompanies other manufacturers’ weak opals. Q Commulite’s latest low voltage low energy technologies provide (1), a superior system with much lower energy levels than other LED lamps and also (2) a five year insurance backed ‘no quibble’, ‘fit and forget’ maintenance free warranty. How can Commulite support this claim? A Simply put, Commulite fittings have four separate circuits: 3 x 3.5w and 1 x 4.5w. Because of this we can combine them to provide SEVEN different outputs.... 3.5, 4.5, 7.0w, 8.0w, 10.5w, 11.5w and 15.0w. In this way we are able to tune every single fitting to the exact level to suit its installed location. We can also switch these circuits independently as many times as required by residents or clients. Other LED lights are either ON or OFF at 16w. Every Commulite installation is designed to ensure optimum use of energy saving and circuit switching. NO OTHER SYSTEM CAN ACHIEVE THIS. Q Who supplies Commulite’s insurance, what does it cover and how does it work in practice? Does it cover parts and labour? A Every part, component, LED, battery, timer, PCB, breaker nut, bolt, screw, and ALL labour, is covered for FIVE years by our insurance backed guarantee. Once the system is successfully commissioned and certified, the policy is effective and documents are sent to you the client. The IBG is underwritten by insurance company, GPI Protection, a fully FSA registered company that has particular expertise in this field, and the policy is arranged by specialist Insurance Broker, DMI Partnerships Limited, also fully FSA registered. Q You claim that the Commulite system is the most intelligent on the market. How is it unique? A No manufacturer has designed a system as advanced and variable as ours. Unique Commulite features include seven outputs, remote monitoring, control and data logging options. No other LEDs can be programmed for different light levels at different times of the day. All competitor lamps are simply in ‘on’ or ‘off’ mode. Q How robust are the Commulite luminaires? A Extremely robust and resistant to wilful attack, because each fitting incorporates four circuits, with a virtually indestructible board of over 60 LEDs, it is almost impossible to completely disable Commulite fittings. Even if there was intent to vandalise the fitting, it is unlikely that all LEDs will be damaged in the event of an attack. Q You claim a minimum 65% saving in energy consumption compared to a traditional fluorescent communal lighting system. Where do you get this figure from? A Our calculations are all based on real schemes. We claim 65% savings, but because of the unique nature of Commulite’s intelligent controls, we are able to achieve much greater savings in many cases. Before you commit, we will produce reports and surveys, calculating estimated savings based on your building. We offer this service completely free of charge. Q Commulite claims to far exceed standard regulations in terms of running times and light levels whilst in emergency-mode. But what about the fire ratings of the cables feeding the fittings? A In a lights out situation, Commulite comes under BS 50171 ‘Central battery systems’. During installation it is imperative that a minimum of one circuit is wired with FP100 1.5mm2 singles. Generally we recommend that when rewiring a system it is done with all cables using FP100 when used in galvanised conduit to enable maximum flexibility with the emergency light programming/set up. If an existing system has recently been rewired, we recommend that the existing cabling is left in place, but one FP100 circuit is drawn into the conduit. This is easily achieved by using the existing ‘Earth’ as a pull through for a pair of FP100 1.5mm2 singles, for the emergency circuit. Q Why do I want my emergency lights to run for nine hours instead of the statutory three hours? A Emergency lighting regulations are becoming more and more demanding. Because our product has such a long life we aim to ensure that our emergency light performance will satisfy the regulations for years to come without future modification. Our research has also concluded that there are other serious benefits from having such a long emergency light capability. Our lighting will run all night in emergency mode, essential in a care home or power cut situation and great for rural installations. After the normal three hour annual battery check, most emergency light fittings are unable to guarantee emergency light capability until the batteries have recharged. Commulite emergency lighting runs for nine hours instead of the normal three, ensuring you always have spare emergency capability, even after three hours of testing. Q Does the ‘maintenance free’ system apply both to Commulite general lighting and also Commulite emergency lighting? A The system is ‘fit and forget’ and maintenance free, with tamper proof seals on all fittings. There are no user serviceable parts contained in the system. We provide a timed test switch for emergency testing purposes; however, as the lights are on and are visibly on you do not need to engage the emergency mode to ascertain that they are working. We always provide a system monitor for visual system checking. Should you elect to incorporate the remote testing module, the lighting will test itself, data log all results and send text or email alerts should anything fail during the test. The system carries out the checks and displays results on the indicator panel. If you do not elect to use the remote monitoring system and its data logging capability, you must then visit and record that the light fitting underwent testing and showed the correct indicator lamp was back on. Many people think that self-test light fittings do not require visual checks or paper records.... they do! Our system offers remote system monitoring over the net and is highly cost-effective. The remote monitoring unit has a one-off cost in the region of £250. In addition you will always have to pay for your data transfer be that by 3G, Wi-Fi or broadband depending upon what is available, but with our system you DO NOT have to pay for any cloud based storage …. Because we can provide that for FREE. The remote monitoring system will notify, by email or text, whenever any status condition varies. Q I have noticed that many of your competitors state that their LED light fittings must not be used if the ambient air temperature will exceed 25C. Does Commulite impose those restrictions? A NO… plain and simple. We are very aware of many similar caveat’s are included in our competitors ‘warrranties’ but here art Commulite, we have no small print. We only use CREE LED’s and our LED boards are tested from -40C to + 50C without any detrimental effect. In fact recent trails of CREE LEDS have proven that they will run for 50,000 hours at 125C. and that is not a projected life... that is in real time link ‘Awesome Cree LEDs”
Q Commulite sounds very impressive. Why wouldn’t I use it? A Sorry...Can’t answer that one!
