Fun fact: Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Velha was founded more than 750 years ago as a house of the Order of Poor Clares. The monastery was flooded every year because of the Mondego River! This made life impossible for the nuns. By 1647, the nuns were ordered to abandon the ensemble. In 1677 the last nuns left the structure settling to a new monastery called Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova. 📸 Natalia Téllez.
