Dog Mountain update.

- Fire showed agressive behaviour to the west.
- One uninhabited structure was lost.
** Size Update! Fire is now mapped to be 96 Hectares **
- Fire size between 35 and 45 Hectares, remains to be remapped.
- Heavy smoke still present in valley.

Dog Mountain Fire Update from BCFS.

- Fire approx 125 Ha in size, minimal growth expected tonight.
- SPU has been setup
- Heavy Equipment continuing to work today on access.
- Fire conditions on Northern Vancouver Island are improving, which may allow more resources for this fire.
- Weather conditions were a little more favourable today.

Mars bomber is back in the water getting ready to fight the fires!

Dog Mountain fire tonight. BCFS actioned this fire with air tankers, helicopters and ground crews today. The fire is on a peninsula in Sproat Lake which is connected by a narrow ithsmus and was mapped at 20 Hectares this evening. More information as it becomes available.

Reminder to everyone enjoying the lake that we are on a campfire ban!

BULLETIN: Campfire bans will take effect in some areas within the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction starting Saturday, June 27 at noon.

This prohibition covers all BC Parks, Crown lands and private lands within the Coastal Fire Centre, within the following areas:

On Vancouver Island:

- South of Robson Bight
- South of the Nimpkish Valley
- South of Nordstrom Creek on Brooks Peninsula on the outer coast of Vancouver Island, with the exception of the area known as the "Fog Zone" (The Fog Zone is a band of land two kilometres wide that runs south from Nordstrom Creek to Owen Point near Port Renfrew.)

On the mainland:

- South of Knight Inlet

The Martin Mars Water bombers are home on Sproat Lake and this year they have been greatly missed. Right now they are not in the air fighting forest fires in BC because the government did not renew their contract. You can do your part to help get them back for another 5 year contract by signing this petition on Change.org Please help us get this amazing fire fighting machine back protecting our environment.
