Flying to Barthe this Summer?

Are you thinking of a holiday to the South West of France this summer?
Domaine de Barthe, near the popular Mediaeval Cite de Carcassonne and 40 minutes to the Mediterranean coastline, is an ideal destination for individual families or groups (up to 20 persons). With 4 gites available and great facilities (14m x 6m swimming pool, Games Barn, covered Petanque area and central courtyard) you will have an unforgettable holiday!

Fly/drive is a popular method of getting here and most airlines now have their summer schedules available. It’s always wise to book early before prices soar and there are currently some good deals out there.

During our peak season (12th July to 29th August this year) we operate units of weekly stays commencing on Saturdays and the airlines operating Saturday to Saturday flights during this period are;

Many of you are familiar with our local wines, most of which rarely leave the area, unless of course our guests take them home! But it seems the wine from Chateau Capendu (our adjoining village) has escaped to the UK & can be found in Waitrose (as discovered by our nephew Ben Drury). However, it may be better to come here & sample all the superb wines available from our region. Santé 🍷

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL FROM BARTHEGITES!
This year we are pleased to celebrate our 20th anniversary of hosting gites at Domaine de Barthe! We started on our project in February 2005 and, each year, we developed a little further to eventually establish our 4 gites with supporting facilities now available to you.
As a thank you to our past (and future) guests we are pleased to announce a special offer viewable at our website www.barthegites.com.
We have published our 2025 rates on the website and now offer booking availability for our 2025 holiday season. As our returning clients know it is always advisable to book early to guarantee the dates you want (and take advantage of the website offer), particularly if you are considering multiple occupancy for a large group.

Carcassonne médiéval cité hosts concerts at their 5000 seat arena during July every year. We had the privilege to see the legend Tom Jones last night. At the age of 83 he still has it, what an amazing show!

W***Y WONKA ARRIVES IN TREBES!
Not really the famous fictional chocolate factory but certainly the next best thing! Nougalet opened late 2022 and makes on site nougats, macaroons, pralines, sweets and all sorts of chocolate products. You don’t need a golden ticket to tour the factory (just a 5€ payment) and you can see 10 stages of manufacture which then leads into their amazing shop and restaurant. Well worth a visit for all chocoholics!

Barthe Gites

Barthegites are 4 self-catering properties, suitable for couples, individual families or group holidays (sleeping 2 – 20 people) and are situated within Domaine de Barthe which is an ancient wine domain located in the Aude valley between the Corbiere and Minervois wine regions. It is surrounded by vineyards, yet is only a kilometre away from the villages of Douzens and Blomac and 2km from the larger town of Capendu with many amenities. The domain is set within 2 hectares (5 acres) of its own vines and is a few hundred metres from the river Aude itself. It is about 20 minutes from Carcassonne’s local heritage medieval city and being only 50 kilometres (35 miles) from the coast, it is in a true Mediterranean climate zone.

The main buildings are set around a large attractive pebbled courtyard entered through a grand ancient gateway. Immediately in front are two adjoined gîtes (Minervois and Corbiere cottages). To either side are ancient barns, one containing the activities/games area. Attached to the right-hand barn is another gite (Alaric cottage) and above the right barn is our 3 bedroom Fitou apartment. Each property has its own exclusive outside area.

Guests will also be able to enjoy separate communal areas for leisure and relaxation, including a 14m x 6m swimming pool, a games barn and a large BBQ/petanque (French bowls) area.
