I got to contribute to Sunny's piece about the future of the Great Eastern Trail and Chattanooga's part in it from Chattanooga Times Free Press. Give it a read and get involved to help this trail get finished so we can start hiking!

On a recent Saturday morning, I filled my backpack with fruit and protein bars and headed out to Cloudland Connector Trail, a 14-mile footpath from Cloudland Canyon State Park to Lookout Mountain.

Trying to do a mini thru hike of the 165 mile Ozark Highland Trail starting next week. Any trail angels out in Arkansas?
If I don't get back on a trail soon I'm gonna have to start doing laps around the house...
This will be the first hike I've planned with a dog, I'll post updates on how it goes!

If you wish to support the long trails of this country, please donate and share to a GoFundMe campaign that my hiking partner, Garbelly and myself have been promoting. We are going to donate 100% of proceeds to the Cumberland Trail Conference for trail construction and maintenance.

End of July we will be connecting the 12 separated sections of the nearly completed Cumberland Trail. The path spans Tennessee south to north, meandering over 300 miles across the Cumberland Plateau. Once completed, the trail will be one of the most scenic and quality southern sections of the Great Eastern Trail, which will offer a wilder alternative to the popular Appalachian Trail.

If you donate to this campaign, you will personally be speeding up the process towards completion of not only the Cumberland Trail, but the Great Eastern Trail as a whole. Salomon shoes have always impressed me. I got 1,000 miles out of these and they still had some trail life left. I gotta say, it's a good feeling to wear through a pair of shoes.
