THE DPRK IS REOPENING RASON FOR INTERNATIONAL TOURISM
At long last, it has finally happened after five years of anticipation since the DPRK closed its borders due to the pandemic. Today January 16th DPRK has officially reopened international tourism in Rason (Special Economic Zone in the North East of the country). We are waiting for more information regarding the full reopening of the country (including Pyongyang) for international tourists.
WHAT IS RASON? This region is located in the northeast of the DPRK and borders China and Russia along the Tumen River. The main cities are Rajin and Sonbong, from which the name 'Rason' is derived. The region is testing new economic policies of the DPRK. Tourists visit various types of industries, a bank, a port, and even a market, which is not possible anywhere else in the DPRK. Additionally, visits to schools, kindergartens, and nature walks are possible
HOW TO GET TO RASON:
FROM CHINA: We will organize a transfer from the Chinese city of Yanji to the border village of Quanhe. From Quanhe, you will cross the border on a minibus via the Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge over the Tumen River and arrive in Wonjong, the DPRK's border crossing point.
FROM RUSSIA: We will organize a transfer from the Russian city of Vladivostok to the border village of Khasan. From Khasan, you will cross the border by train via the Russian-Korean Friendship Bridge and arrive in Tumangang, the DPRK's border town.
Individual and group tours to Rason will be available on Korea Konsult's website as soon as possible.
