TETCI offers NICET I,II,III and IV Highway Construction Inspector's Training, 10 and 30 hour OSHA training, Asphalt Paving Construction Technologist and Soils and Foundation workshops. Our instructor is Robert Wm. Muir, Jr., PhD, PE. Dr. Muir has over 30 years of progressive experience in engineering and construction and 8 years in full time construction academia. He is currently serving
as full time faculty and Director of the Construction Management Program at Drexel University. He spent Twenty-two years principally engaged in bridge and highway construction and has conducted training sessions for clients that include the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT), Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, among others. Our focus is to identify our clients training needs, develop solutions which meet and exceed the requirements of those needs and deliver them at a fair price. SCOPE OF INSTRUCTION
The proposed session consisting of eight training modules includes:
− Intro to the NICET Certification Process
− Basic and Intermediate Math and Conversions
− Basic Physical Science
− Plans, Surveying & Topographic Maps
− Communications
− Material Sampling & Testing
− Traffic Control, Safety & First Aid
− Levels I & II Special Work Elements Topics within the proposed modules align with those listed in the Program Detail Manual for Highway Construction Inspection compiled by NICET. INSTRUCTIONAL APPROACH AND ACTIVITIES
The instructor will make liberal use of PowerPoint presentations and will provide each participant with a set of handout notes. There will also be considerable chalkboard / whiteboard discussions. The emphasis will be on practical application as opposed to pure theory. All examples used will be directly related to highway construction, with many derived from actual projects. Instructional activities will include exercises to assess and reinforce learning.
