Simon Sinek is one of my personal inspirations. He is the author of some of my favorite leadership books, including my current read "Leaders Eat Last".
I spent part of this weekend preparing content for culture trainings that I will deliver this week. I couldn't help but think that leaders are our modern day classroom teachers - you have the ability to impact not just the wσrkplace, but the єvєrч dαч-place. Speaking of education purveyors - I attribute my success to my 7th grade English teacher, Mr. Mark Flannery and Sophomore Physics Professor Dr. Meziani. Whether they know it or not - they shaped how I think, behave and see the world. They both had a gift - they made me feel like I was the only one in that classroom. They made me feel like I mattered.
Funny thing is, today - grammar, punctuation, and spelling is my jam and it irks me when a semicolon is misused. At a stop light, I want to calculate the tension (T1, T2, T3) of the ropes. I know, weird. My point is: these two special people impacted my life — forever.
Leadership is no different. Leadership is about valuing people. It is about being a catalyst for greatness and changing the trajectory of someone's life because they had an opportunity to learn from you. Remember - good or bad, you're someone'ѕ dinner time conversation. мαкє ιт α gσσ∂ σиє!
"How leaders choose to treat their people impacts everything—for better or for worse. Great leaders sacrifice their own comfort – even their own survival – for the good of those in their care. This principle has been true since the earliest tribes of hunters and gatherers. It’s not a management theory; it’s biology."
Love you people hard,
