I love Maps and I love the USA. So when this came through the post today, I popped it straight up on my wall.

I’ve always got several USA destinations on my bucket list. And this will provide further inspiration for me.

There is never any obligation to book a holiday with me.

If someone books a call with me, I never assume they will book a holiday. I do my best to meet their needs and expectations and if they like my suggestions and book, then that’s great.

There’s never any pressure from me to go ahead with my recommendations. If I tell you that places are limited or prices are increasing it’s because I am worried you will miss out, not to get a quick sale.

Happy customers who want to book lots of holidays over many years are more valuable to me than one sale.

Are there destinations you really want to visit but wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it on your own?

A great option can be a small group tour. They offer a chance to have shared experiences with other likeminded people with expert support on hand.

These are just a tiny selection of what is on offer. There are thousands of tours aimed all ages, abilities and interest levels.

Tours are perfect for couples, solo travellers and groups of friends. There are also an increasing number of family tours.

Tour suppliers work very closely with locals on the ground. The group leaders will sort all the logistics so you don’t need to worry about how to get to where you need to be, or what you need to do, it will all be taken care of.

And don’t worry about feeling like you are marching to someone else schedule, they also plan in time do your own thing.

Does the thought of planning a holiday make you feel overwhelmed?

I’ve worked with many customers who are find ravelling stressful for many different reasons. My job is to support them and reduce their anxiety.

It starts with choosing the right trip. The amount of information available on line is overwhelming and can make deciding on a holiday stressful. I can help narrow down their choices by making informed recommendations based on their needs and wants.

My customers know they can ask me questions about their trip at any time and that I will answer or address all their concerns, however big or small. I’ve had messages at 3am from worried customers who can’t sleep! I can’t promise I will always reply at that time but even getting that question off their chest helped them to feel calmer.

Uncertainty and the unknown can cause a lot of anxiety around travel. I make sure customers are prepared with all their travel documents and itinerary information before they go. I will check they can meet all the entry requirements to their country of travel, which can be minefield.

I can walk customers through their travel journey if that is something that will help them feel more in control. I will also recommend resources that can help like blogs, videos or maps that can help them know more about their holiday journey and destination.

For some customers, accessing specials assistance at the airport might be appropriate and something I will help them arrange. This can make navigation of the airport easier and take away a lot of stress. We can request for them to board the plane first or last, if that is something that would help.

Ultimately, knowing that you have someone on your side to support them can make customer feel less anxious and more likely to have a positive travel experience.

🏝️ Mauritius for 2027? Yes please! 🏝️

Our friends at Beachcomber in Mauritius have released their package prices up to October 2027.

I think these holidays represent the best value for a long haul luxury destination, across the world.

The hotels are beautiful with lots of facilities. The food is great with abundant choices. The staff are delightful and truly want you to have a wonderful say.

There are huge advantages to booking holidays two years in advance:
- You have the first choice of rooms to meet your needs perfectly
- Have longer to save so you can have exactly what you want
- You can spread the cost over a longer period with Direct Debit

I offer a passport check to all my customers before travel.

Every country has its own rules about passport validity. It is essential that you check in plenty of time to make sure that your passport meet those requirements.

In addition, rules to travel to the EU have changed in the last few years.

Your passport must meet both of the following criteria:
- The issue date must be less than 10 years before travel.
- The expiry date must be more than three months after you leave the EU.

Some passports were issued for longer than 10 years as the passport office would add on extra months if your passport wasn’t due to expire immediately. This can cause confusion and people to think their passports are valid for the EU, when they are not.

If you are travelling this year please check this information now. Timescales to get a new passport will increase at this time of year.

Travel companies will not refund you if you do not have the correct documentation to travel. You cannot claim for this on your travel insurance either.

Getting this wrong, can be an expensive mistake.

Lapland isn’t just for families wanting to visit Santa.

It’s a fabulous destination for anyone who would enjoy a magical snowy experience.

There are many different types of adventures you can take part in from snowmobiling to reindeer Safaris and husky rides to ice karting. There are also plenty of opportunities for downhill and cross country skiing.

It’s an incredible destination to see the northern lights. And on my week long trip, last January, I was fortunate to see them four out of the seven nights we were there.

You don’t have to go to Lapland in December, the season lasts from end of November to February.

There are packages which have a full schedule of activities included, or ones where you can pick and choose what you’d like to do.

It can be a fabulous holiday for older children and teens who may find a sun Holiday to the Mediterranean no longer offers enough to keep their interest.

This weekend l’m at Not Just Travel’s annual conference in Wolverhampton.

The keynote speaker is Dame Irene Hays.

You may not be aware but Not Just Travel is part of Hays Travel Independence Group. Hays help manage and protect our financial transactions and negotiate our supplier arrangements. As the largest independent travel agents in the UK they have phenomenal buying power.

Dame Irene spoke about her view and experience of the industry right now. She confirmed there has been significant growth over the last few years for both Hays and Not Just Travel.

Amongst the information she shared, one thing really stood out to me. This there has been a huge rise in customers wanting the reassurance of having someone there if something goes wrong when they travel.

Holiday disruption happens all the time, from man made issues like war to natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes.

If you are caught out by any travel issues it can be, at best, frustrating and at worst down right scary!

While I can’t stop issues happening I can be available to help you if something should go array when you travel. I’m also careful about which suppliers I use to make sure that they are companies that will be supportive and easy to deal with when an issue occurs.

How much are you happy to spend on this holiday?

This is a question I ask customers before I work on a quote. Some of the answers I get are:

“Nothing too expensive”

“Not crazy”

“An average amount”

“We have no budget”

“As little as possible”

“I don’t care as long as it’s a bargain”

“We’ve got a healthy budget”

And so on……

The subject of money is uncomfortable for some people and they find it hard to talk about but it’s impossible to buy a holiday without spending money!

I sell holidays from £1000 to £50,000+. My idea of “average” “a healthy budget” “not too expensive” may be very different to someone else’s.

Unless I have some indication of how much someone wants to spend I can’t do my job properly. I could spend hours finding the perfect holiday, only to find the customer unable to book as it’s more than they want to spend.

There’s nothing more disappointing than seeing your dream trip all planned out and then have it snatched away because it’s too expensive.

I understand that these things are sometimes flexible and for the right holiday the budget might be able to be pushed. This is all useful information as part of the discussion.

I think some customers worry that if they tell me an amount that I won’t consider cheaper options and they might miss out on a bargain. But if I can find a customer their dream holiday for less money, I always will!

What better way to start the New Year than booking a fabulous holiday!

I was delighted to book a spring getaway for a customer celebrating a big birthday, to my favourite island, Mauritius.

It’s a beautiful place with wonderful people and remarkably it’s better value than other popular island destinations.

It’s great for couples wanting a romantic getaway, but it’s also fantastic for families.

I love planning all sorts of holidays but my very favourite are North American trips.

I’ve travelled extensively in the USA and lived in Arizona for two summers.

I’ve experienced city breaks, road trips and RV holidays plus cruises to Alaska and out of Florida. I’ve traveled two of the best sections of Route 66. I’ve been to Disney and Universal on both coasts.

I’ve explored Atlantic Canada and a large proportion of Alberta including the Canadian Rockies.

I have two more USA trips already planned in the next year or so and I’m sure there’ll be more.

There is so much to do in the USA and Canada, it can easily become overwhelming.
