LIFE HIGHLIGHT!
This morning I had an incredible sighting of a family of critically endangered Eastern Mountain Bongo in the Aberdares.
Can’t wait to share some special images and video with you all.
Massive thanks to @bongosurveillanceproject team. Thanks for helping protect and save the bongo.
Also a huge thanks to Carolene Magner for your commitment to helping bongo both in the wild and in our zoos.
Today is a special friend’s birthday. She was definitely watching the bongo with me ❤️
Love me an Aye-aye!
What an absolute honour to be so close to the largest nocturnal primate on the planet. The aye-aye is on the verge of extinction in Madagascar. National Parks and a lodge called Palmarium have worked together to create a little safe haven for a handful of these incredible creatures with the hopes to send some of the individuals back to the north of the country one day. It is really hard to view these animals in their native forest. I am so happy to have the chance to see them in a semi-wild environment. They have their own carers who provide them with their wild diet of coconuts and insects. Last night was one of the most magical encounters we have had with them. Can’t wait to share some pics!
Our cup has runneth over ❤️

The Nyakagezi blackback and infant were playing the entire time during our first gorilla session. It was so joyful to watch. Half way through the infant had to go to the toilet and just like human children they paused their rough and tumble for a quick loo break!

We have spent the past two days in the company of Nyakagezi gorilla family in Mgahinga National Park, Uganda. Yesterday was my 10th gorilla encounter and it was incredibly special. We had a very close encounter with young silverback “Rukundo” I first met this handsome chap in 2022. His photo is currently hanging on the walls of the @northernbeachesgallery.
Rukundo is the youngest of three silverbacks but he is the biggest. His name means love in Rukija language.
The rules for gorilla tracking is that you cannot approach the great apes within seven metres but for those that have been amongst gorillas it is very clear that the gorillas do not follow rules set by humans.
Rukundo approached us yesterday and we had nowhere to back up. Our wonderful guide Nicholas held onto my arm and gently pulled me back to try and avoid making contact with Rukundo. This magnificent gorilla stopped in front of me and looked directly above me. There were some berries above my head that he wanted. He gently put the back of his hand on my stomach to move me and then got up on his back legs and stretched his monster arms to pull the berries down.
I still can’t believe how gentle he was. This is an animal that can lift 800kg of dead weight and he touched my tubby belly so carefully 🤣
I am forever grateful for wildlife and the amazing humans that are helping to conserve and protect it.
Go see wild gorillas! It’s one of the best experiences you will have in life 🦍🇺🇬

Our first day on safari has been spectacular!
We have photographed cheetah, leopard, lion, hippo, giraffe and met this curious elephant bull at the end of the day.
Check out the grin on @amie.hindson at the end of the video!

Galapaagos moments ❤️
Travelling back in the panga after a snorkel and we came across a humpback whale and her calf. It was a magical moment 🐋
The reaction from my gorgeous friend and guest @phoebebeeberbee is the REASON why I pursue this career.
Unadulterated joy!
Thanks to @nicholas.j.bishop1 for filming this scene from the boat. So lucky to have captured this moment in time.

Playing fetch with a seal lion!
A playful encounter with a Galapagos sea lion on our first snorkel in the archipelago. If you watch closely I am playing fetch with this incredible animal. This was happening for about a minute before I decided to record with the GoPro. Watch the sea lion drop a piece of coral in front of me. I pick it up and throw it as best I can… which is incredibly hard underwater! He swoops in and catches it before it hits the ocean floor.
The ocean dogs were one of the many highlights of our Galapagos safari 🦭

Currently planning some exciting safaris for 2025 BUT..... I still have some spots left on my 2024 September Madagascar Safari.
This is the perfect safari for photographers that like to explore forests on foot and who enjoy the art of macro photography. It is an incredible destination that offers unique opportunities for wildlife photography.
Join me this September!

The word Jaguar means “he who kills with one leap” this video captured by our friend and guest @phoebebeeberbee shows female Jaguar Patricia leaping into the vegetation to try and catch a caiman. You can see that the caiman are incredibly quick and have fantastic eyesight. Notice the splash in the water before she lands.
The jaguar sightings have been incredible 👌🏻🐆
