Friday night was a journey unlike any other. I had the extraordinary delight in participating in a unique immersive experience where darkness meets light, shadow casts light as we descended into the underworld!

Mysterion: Descent into Hades, hosted by Medusa RPG and the Hellenic Museum, allowed us to step into a world where darkness and light intertwined and ancient tales came alive before our eyes.🏛️🏺

Dressed in our finest along with a mask 🎭to protect our true identity and with our mythical characters in check, we were ready to begin the rituals of the ancient secret society.

As above, so below!
This was our chant as the gates of the underworld opened!

The night was filled with games, mysteries, puzzles to solve and occasionally be misdirected just for fun.

The performers and collaborators behind this event deserve all the praise for their dedication and creativity. They flawlessly brought to life a tapestry of Greek mythical characters, staying true to their essence and weaving them into an unforgettable narrative.

Special thanks to everyone involved in making this night possible. Your hard work and attention to detail created an atmosphere where every participant could truly immerse themselves in the magic of the underworld. 🎭🔮

🍏 Oh Milos Milos, who's the fairest one of all? 🏛️

Legend has it that Eris, the goddess of discord, felt a bit miffed for not scoring an invite to Thetis and Peleus' wedding. So, she decided to crash the party in style, hurling one of those snazzy magic golden apples into the mix – you know, the ones that could make you immortal. The apple had a cheeky message, "To the fairest." Guess what happened next…

a) Well, nothing really happened, because hey, they were gods and goddesses, and their day job was to live forever, right? Immortality? Overrated!

b) Zeus decided to squirrel it away for one of his gorgeous nymphs. Classic Zeus.

c) Enter the goddesses: Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. They squared off in an epic showdown over the golden apple.

👑 C. Classic case of typical vain women.

To settle the score, Paris of Troy swooped in and chose Aphrodite, the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, as the fairest and gave her the golden apple, or "milo" in Greek. In return, Aphrodite promised him the stunning Helen of Troy, and boom – that's how the Trojan War was born.

While the statue's hands have been lost to the sands of time, it's widely believed that one hand was gracefully lifting drapery, while the other held the infamous apple. Not only is the original statue a masterpiece, but its mythical backstory is equally legendary.

So, if you find yourself on the island of Milos, don't forget to pay a visit to the replica Aphrodite of Milos. It's a slice of ancient drama with a side of artistic brilliance! 🏺🌟

Standing proudly atop Cape Sounion, the Temple of Poseidon 🏛️ is a timeless marvel. Whether you visit it during summer or winter or any time of day, its allure is undeniable. Yet, witnessing its radiant splendour as the sun bids the day farewell is an enchantment beyond words. 🌅✨

During our Aegean Dream sailing tour, we craft an unforgettable journey. Our guests not only embrace the temple's sunset from above but also relish its grace while moored below. ⛵🌊 On this evening, Poseidon 🔱, god of the sea, was particularly calm. It made for a truly unique experience.

Exploring the colourful streets of Kythnos in between our daily swims.
Kythnos, a Cycladic island close to Athens is a stunningly beautiful island. It has four little towns(villages) each with its own charm and beauty. But the real surprise was its many crystal clear swimming bays. Best way to explore the island is by boat.

Kythnos, a lesser known island of Cyclades close to Athens, is a hidden little gem.
It has incredible beaches and many small little coves that are best reached with a boat.
Loutra, is a quiet picturesque town with white washed homes and great tavernas set along the waterfront. 💦

Relive the myth of the underworld and visit the natural springs believed to have been the entrance to the underworld, home of Hades and Persephone.
It is here that the five rivers, the river of tears, the river of forgetfulness , the river of fire, the river of black sorrow and river Styx once met.

Today three rivers remain active including the main river, Acheron, the river of black sorrow. The river is surrounded with luscious green trees and pockets of shallow crystal waters. The journey to the natural springs requires you to cross the river and experience the freezing water temperatures.

You can also enjoy a ride down the river with our guide as did Odysseus and as described by ancient literature as the place where the dead began their descent to Hades and all those
wishing to meet the souls of the dead.

Some of the most interesting monuments in Kea (or Tzia) can be seen when visiting the archaeological sites on the island.

Temples such as the Doric temple of goddess Athena (late 6th century BC), the archaic Temple of Pythion Apollo (530 BC), the Temple of Demetra (3rd century BC) and the theatre (1st century BC) can be visited.

Imagine preparing to fight the Minotaur donning your golden armour overlooking the crystal clear waters of the Aegean with these historical sites as a backdrop!!

Every season is beautiful and every season has its associated beautiful food. For me, summer in Greece is particularly tasty and aromatic. There’s something about the smell of ripe juicy tomatoes in summer, and how perfectly they pair with refreshing cucumbers that makes the all time favorite, Greek traditional salad. ⁠

What if the sunset could speak, what would it say? What if it was a woman? Would her rays be in the form of long golden hair? And how many women would be needed to create this golden evening sunset? One, two…a million?⁠

Depending which mythical version you read, there were either, three, four or seven evening beauties. They were known as (meaning evening in Greek) and were considered the evening and the golden light of sunsets. ⁠

Daughters of god Nyx (Night) these goddess-nymphs are connected to many mythical stories including ‘The eleventh labour of Heracles’, ‘The garden of the Hesperides and ‘Messengers of the bridal night’. ⁠

These beautiful nymphs and their glowing, golden apples, were the cause of the golden light of sunset, which helped celebrate the bridal union of Zeus and Hera, the king and queen of heaven.⁠
